An enticing, Norfolk country cottage, tucked away in tranquil surroundings in Great Walsingham, this quiet, retreat is also ideal for spending time on the coast. Sleeping four guests, its North Norfolk location means the vast, sandy beach at Wells-next-the-Sea is just 6 miles away and picturesque Holkham Beach is 7.5 miles away. Wander into Little Walsingham, less than 1 mile away, to visit the abbey. Catch the light railway from here to Wells to potter in the shops, pause in a café or restaurant or have fish and chips on the quay. Return to your brick and flint cottage to light the wood burner on cold days or unwind in the garden when it is warm.

Wander into this pretty property and leave any Norfolk provisions you have bought in the kitchen and to put the kettle on for a cup of tea. This well-equipped space is a great place to prepare tasty meals for your group and to dine together afterwards at the table. Head on through to the cosy beamed lounge next door to stoke up the wood burner when it’s chilly and settle down in its inviting glow, perhaps in front of a programme on the Smart TV, which has access to streaming services. When eyelids start to droop, climb the steep, cottage-style stairs up to the first floor. There are two comfortable bedrooms at this level: a double, with a characterful, sloping ceiling and exposed timbers, and a twin. The family bathroom is also here.

Savour the lovely, leafy garden at this Norfolk cottage. Dine outside, watch the birds in the trees and light the chiminea as it grows dark so you can sit out into the night. An outhouse, with WC, washing machine and tumble dryer, is accessed from outside.

19 Hill View, Great Walsingham is a beautiful 2 bedroomed cottage in a picturesque hamlet. The cottage has a spacious and well equipped Kitchen linked to a large and comfortable lounge with a comfy sofa and chairs. The patio area for No. 19 had garden table and 2 chairs in a great spot for the late afternoon sunshine. Adequate car parking is provided adjacent to the cottage via a small gate from the cottage and double gates from the road. The garden to the right of the parking space was absolutely full of flowering shrubs and plants with another table and chairs set, making it a great place for morning coffee. Just over 4 miles out on easy roads from Wells-next-the Sea gave us best of both worlds, quiet countryside and a beautiful seaside harbour town. We would definitely stay there again. Hide

The Hill is a beautiful, tranquil cottage in an equally gorgeous part of Norfolk. A super location to explore local beaches and villages. And we can highly recommend The Barn (just 5 minutes walk from the cottage) for excellent coffee, cake and pies. The only reason for a 4/5 on "equipment at the property" was that we couldn't use the washing maRead morechine (until it was quickly put right at the beginning of the working week....but too late for us) and the wood burner's chimney was not drawing well and smoke backfilled into the lounge.
