In the heart of the postcard-pretty seaside town of Walberswick, this cute cottage would suit a small family or friends wishing to explore Suffolk’s beautiful coast and countryside. In the town there is an unspoilt beach, pubs, shops and places to eat, and don’t forget, while you’re here, to try your hand at crabbing by the harbour. All around are more than a thousand acres of open-access heath and marshland, protected as an Area of Outstanding National Beauty and lovely for rambling. The RSPB nature reserve at Minsmere is 9 miles away, and the seaside town of Southwold, with its sandy beach, pier, shops and restaurants, is a pleasant 1.5-mile stroll, via either the foot bridge or the ferry that runs during the summer months.
On the ground floor of the welcoming cottage is a bright lounge with a fireplace and bay windows with cafe-style shutters for privacy. The spacious kitchen/diner has all the modern appliances you’ll need for convenience, and a lovely traditional display of plates on a dresser. A large lobby houses a washing machine and freezer, and there is a handy cloakroom, too. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom boasts an original, ornamental fireplace and a large window with pretty shutters, through which can be seen a glimpse of the sea. The twin bedroom overlooks the garden, and both rooms share a bathroom with a large, walk-in shower.
To the rear of the cottage is an attractive and secure courtyard garden with outdoor dining furniture, bordered by shrubs and flowers – a delightful space in which to start your day with a cup of tea or relax into the evening over an al fresco supper.
