Property code: OC-DS1031

Set in the picturesque village of Moulton, Yorkshire, this two-bedroom converted chapel is ideal for family getaways or groups of four. The famous Yorkshire Dales start approximately 6 miles away and can be reached by a short drive. The scenic national park is full of stunning walking and biking trails, with deep valleys and rolling hills to admire. If you are feeling energetic take in the views and countryside air by walking part of the coast to coast walk from Richmond to Reeth, at just over 10 miles.

Full of character and historic charm, this holiday home is a cosy, converted chapel with original high ceilings, large arched windows and beams. It includes two levels with a lovely mezzanine. As you enter the property through the arched doorway, there is a hall with a lovely stone-flagged floor and an exposed stone wall. There are coat hooks for you to hang your belongings and store your muddy boots after a long day walking in the surrounding hills. You can then access the kitchen/diner, a beautiful open-plan space with a well-equipped kitchen area. You have everything you need to do some home cooking with a ceramic hob and integrated electric oven, a stylish Belfast sink with Victorian-style taps plus a wooden dining table and chairs. There’s also a utility room with further appliances including a fridge/freezer, washing machine and additional cupboard storage. A convenient shower room is on the ground floor with a shower cubicle, WC and heated towel rail. There are also two bedrooms on this floor. Bedroom one offers a comfortable super-king-size bed (zip-and-link; can be set up as twin beds on request), built-in wardrobes and a chest of drawers. It also has an en-suite bathroom with blue wall panelling, a bath, WC and heated towel rail. Bedroom two has a king-size bed and built-in mirrored wardrobes for plenty of hanging space. The hallway and stairs then lead up to the mezzanine where you’ll find the spacious living/dining room. It has beautiful exposed wooden beams, arched windows that look out over the gardens and cosy, carpeted floors. Curl up on one of the two scroll-end sofas and watch something on the Smart TV. There’s also further seating in the form of another two dining tables and chairs.

Outside, the gardens are the star of the show. Large, grassy and well-kept, they’re bordered by mature hedges, trees, and bushes and there’s a meandering pathway overlooking the adjoining fields. Pick from two pebbled seating areas with rattan furniture plus a table and chairs for al fresco dining and sunset conversations.

We loved the Chapel and the beautiful well kept garden, although some kitchen equipment and utensils need replacing. The village is very peaceful and an ideal location for exploring the Dales and Moors. However, walking in the immediate vicinity is very limited. Footpaths have PRIVATE ROAD signs or have had stiles highered, making it very difficultRead more for people, and impossible for dogs, to negotiate as well as being overgrown with no visible path or signage. We drove to Scorton Lakes or Richmond Station which both have lovely walks, and enjoyed outstanding meals at The Heifer in Scorton Hide

Lovely conversion and sympathetic renovation of the chapel. Garden is beautiful and perfect for dogs to enjoy freely. Location is a little isolated so be prepared to travel to amenities and attractions. Overall though, a very enjoyable holiday in very comfortable accommodation and beautiful surroundings

Comfy cottage which could be absolutely lovely with a few tweeks. Oven wasnt very clean when we arrived but the owner came on Sunday to clean it which we were happy with. Good proximity to the Black Bull pub which serves good food.

We thought the chapel cottage was very special and the welcoming wine and goodies a nice touch. The garden was beautiful and we spent some happy moments enjoying our morning coffee and afternoon tea. It was secure for our dog and he liked the freedom of running around in a large green environment.

This was a perfect gem , an oasis in a little hamlet close to Richmond . Such a pretty part of the dales and close to many attractions. The chapel was well equipped and very comfortable. A warm welcome awaited us on arrival with some carefully chosen goodies. The artwork on the walls of the Chapel compliments it and is painted by the owner. Would highly recommend a stay in this unique setting . The chapel itself is warm and homely Hide

The Old Chapel is a little gem. We were concerned about this property not being very warm given that its a converted chapel and we visited in the winter (over the new year), however, it is quite honestly one of the warmest properties that weve stayed in! The heating was responsive and efficient meaning that we were nice and cosy while the storms ouRead moretside raged on! In terms of equipment, we always judge a cottage based on whether we can both make a gousto recipe at the same time without fighting over equipment. Again, the Old Chapel came up trumps. Plenty of kitchen equipment, enough worktop space to both be cooking at the same time and again, the hob and oven were responsive. The chapel was very clean, the bed comfortable and the shower was great too. All in all, lots of space for us to ring in the new year. In terms of location, there are walks around but they involve stiles which our dog wont tolerate being lifted over, so we tended to go a bit further afield for walks. But being located a few minutes away from the A1 (although youd never know it!) it meant that there was plenty of things within reasonable driving distances too. Wed definitely recommend this cottage to stay in. Hide

The Old Chapel is a charming and very comfortable holiday accommodation. The four of us really felt at home there. You could find out on the internet at what time it starts and make sure not to be late. Evensong lasts about 45 minutes. Richmond is also well worth a visit. The old railway station has been turned in a restaurant and caf. In the bakery there we got lovely bread.
