This perfectly put-together holiday home is situated in the picturesque village of Staithes, Yorkshire. Staithes was once one of the busiest fishing ports on the north-east coast and it boasts a proud history as the home of famous Royal Navy explorer, Captain James Cook. Today, it is a magnet for artists who come to paint the narrow-cobbled streets, fishing scenes and pretty, terraced houses. 10 miles away is the seaside town of Whitby with a bustling promenade featuring plenty of shops and restaurants.
On the ground floor, you have a choice of two lounges – perfect for when one half of the group wants some quiet time and the other fancies watching a film. The first living room has a cosy wood burner, a couple of two-seater sofas, coffee tables, and a large footstool. Curl up and watch a favourite film or series on the Smart TV. The second living room is perfect for reading a book or just relaxing and chatting; it has a three-seater sofa, two coffee tables and display shelves. Both rooms have fisherman lantern-style wall lights for a nod to the location’s heritage. The lower-ground floor features a staircase with an abstract-looking bannister that leads down into the spacious kitchen/diner. Bright and contemporary, it offers a large table with four chairs and a bench. The kitchen area has cream units and wooden worktops with all the appliances you need for cooking and cleaning. Up on the first floor, via some steep stairs, there are two bedrooms and a shower room. The first bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed with bedside cabinets and lamps, a built-in wardrobe, a dressing table with a mirror and a wall-mounted TV. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a wardrobe – ideal for children to share. The shower room has a roomy double shower cubicle with a thermostatic rain-head shower, WC and mirrored cabinet with a light above. The second floor encompasses the master bedroom and an en-suite. There is a king-size bed with two industrial-style bedside cabinets and lamps, plus a TV. It then leads into the open en-suite offering a vintage-style slipper bath and telephone shower attachment, WC and a built-in wardrobe.
From the kitchen on the lower-ground floor, there is a door to access the garden. It has a pretty, enclosed patio space with a table and chairs that seat four, plus a parasol to offer some cooling shade when it’s hot.
