Between them, these two stylish properties have space for 13 guests to share a big holiday together in this idyllic coastal setting. Get out and about exploring the charming coastline together, stroll along the shingle shores of Aldeburgh’s beautiful beach and look out for Maggi Hambling's Scallop sculpture. It’s a town that has inspired artists and poets and there are lovely galleries and boutiques to visit along the narrow streets. Venture 2 miles north along the coast to Thorpeness for a nostalgic day by the shallow boating lake, inspired by J.M. Barry and Peter Pan, and look out for the peculiar House in the Clouds. Head along to Hazlewood Marshes or RSPB North Warren, both wildlife-rich birdwatching sites within 1 mile of these retreats, or take in the majestic Orford Castle and wander around Orford Ness (11 miles), a historic site where you can still see concrete structures once used during the Cold War. For sandy days by the sea, Southwold is a delightful resort known for its colourful beach-hut-lined beach and pier, set just 12 miles from Aldeburgh.
Midsomer House:
The second holiday property welcomes five guests across three stylish bedrooms. On entering, you’ll find the thoughtfully laid-out kitchen/sitting area where cushy seating and a TV offers an enticing place to unwind on arrival and after busy days out. Prepare food in the simple and sophisticated kitchen space and take a seat up on the bar stool in this room for a quick snack or hot cuppa, or sit around the five-person table in the separate dining room, a stylish place to share evening meals. A delightful cloakroom WC completes the ground-floor layout. Up on the first floor, choose from three contemporary bedrooms, one elegant double, a single and another double with sea views and its own en-suite shower room. A bathroom with a shower over the bath and a heated towel rail completes the accommodation.
Barnaby Lodge:
A sloped entrance leads up to the front door of the first property, offering accommodation for up to eight guests. Inside, a light, bright sitting room comprising comfortable seating, an open fire and a TV awaits. An elegant kitchen/diner makes a wonderful social space for big get-togethers, with a charming, farmhouse-style table. When night falls, the ground floor offers one double room (with an external door and slope access) and a twin room – both rooms have their own storage space, but there’s also a built-in hanging cupboard in the corridor shared between the double and twin too. A pretty bunk bedroom suitable for youngsters and a beautiful family bathroom with a bath, separate walk-in shower, and lovely, heated towel rail complete the ground-floor layout. The final room of this property is a stylish king-size room set up on the first floor, and it boasts its own en-suite shower room – the perfect place for guests who want that extra bit of privacy during your stay.
Both properties have similar beautiful courtyards that are fenced in with raised flower beds and pretty patios. The first courtyard offers seating for eight guests to unwind together while the second has 14 seats so the entire party can get together for a celebration meal outside on a sunny day.
