Breathtakingly beautiful Bamburgh, the royal capital of the ancient kingdom of Northumbria, has a big open beach and spell-binding castle that’s believed to have been occupied for over 1,400 years. Just 3.5 miles south, the fishing village of Seahouses has a bustling harbour – take a boat trip from here to the nearby Farne Islands and you might see puffins, seals and dolphins. World famous for its medieval religious heritage and 16th-century castle, Lindisfarne – also known as Holy Island – is a tidal island reached via a paved causeway when the North Sea tides permit; it’s a 15-mile drive north from Bamburgh.
Less than a mile from the castle, this beautiful holiday home boasts an idyllic location overlooking the dunes of Bamburgh Beach. One of a small cluster of properties renovated in a chic style, it benefits from a light and airy open-plan living space, with stylish furnishings and fittings and a colour scheme that flows through every room. All on one floor, there’s a chic kitchen/dining/living room where you can unwind in comfort. The owners really have spared no expense here, blending timber, marble and bold soft furnishings with homely touches such as a selection of toys and games and a long list of complimentary essentials. There’s an electric Aga to inspire the cook in your party, space to chat, dine and watch TV, and a wood burner to add a warm glow to chilly evenings. Two inviting bedrooms await when it’s time to retire for the night, and each has its own en-suite shower room. One has a king-size bed and the other has twins that can be converted to a king-size too, making this a great holiday home for two couples, a family or group of friends to share.
After a day of beach fun and sightseeing, you can enjoy the sea air from your own private garden; get up early, stroll across the dunes opposite the property and you could have a front-row seat at sunrise too!
