The Cart Lodge is on the outskirts of Erpingham, a pretty village on the North Norfolk Coast. Aylsham (4 miles), home to more amenities, shops, restaurants and markets, is well worth a visit and the surrounding area is full of sights and activities. Board the Bure Valley Steam Train and make your way through beautiful scenery into the heart of The Broads National Park (13 miles). Visit the National Trust properties of Blickling Hall (4 miles) and Felbrigg Hall (7 miles) or the 1,000-acre gardens of Sheringham Park (10 miles).
This charming cottage retains many of its original features. It has wooden beams throughout, exposed brickwork, and some quirky decorative touches hinting at the property’s history. When you enter, you’ll pass through a lobby which houses a fridge/freezer and washing machine, and into an open-plan living space. There is a pretty kitchen, country-style dining area with a characterful dresser, and a cosy lounge with access to the garden. This lovely, light-filled spot is a great place to relax on the comfy sofas and watch some TV. Also on the ground floor is a shower room. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both comfortable rooms with beamed ceilings, wooden floorboards and old-world charm. Step out of the lounge into a beautiful, enclosed garden. A shingled lower terrace has a picnic table, surrounding this is a raised lawn area and fruit orchards with cherries, plums and raspberries, which guests are invited to pick in season.
