Aylsham (4 miles), home to more amenities, shops, restaurants and markets, is well worth a visit and the surrounding area is full of sights and activities. Visit the National Trust properties of Blickling Hall (4 miles) and Felbrigg Hall (7 miles) or the 1,000-acre gardens of Sheringham Park (10 miles).

This charming cottage retains many of its original features. It has wooden beams throughout, exposed brickwork, and some quirky decorative touches hinting at the property’s history. When you enter, you’ll pass through a lobby which houses a fridge/freezer and washing machine, and into an open-plan living space. There is a pretty kitchen, country-style dining area with a characterful dresser, and a cosy lounge with access to the garden. This lovely, light-filled spot is a great place to relax on the comfy sofas and watch some TV. Also on the ground floor is a shower room. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both comfortable rooms with beamed ceilings, wooden floorboards and old-world charm. A lovely, light-filled bathroom completes this floor.

Step out of the lounge into a beautiful, enclosed garden. A shingled lower terrace has a picnic table, surrounding this is a raised lawn area and fruit orchards with cherries, plums and raspberries, which guests are invited to pick in season.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cart Lodge which had everything we needed for our weeks stay. It is in a very good location within easy reach of the coast and has lots of different things to do in the area. We had a delicious home-cooked meal at The Alby Horseshoes pub just round the corner and would thoroughly recommend a visit! Thank you John for our Read morewelcome gifts and for the fresh raspberries which were very much appreciated. All-in-all we had a wonderful weeks holiday (despite the British weather!!). Hide

Well thought out accommodation and perfect for 4 in a lovely, peaceful spot but sadly compromised by a number of very basic and easily fixable maintenance issues (which we did mention to the owner when we bumped into him, quite by chance, on the last morning of our stay). The complete lack of any kind of welcome pack was very disappointing after a Read morelong journey. Hide

Comfortable cottage in excellent location for exploring north Norfolk. Picture on website is from the back garden. Name sign by front door a bit faded so we didn't see it when we arrived. Trust google maps that you are there! Visiting in June we loved the amount of local produce available at the roadside including asparagus and eggs next door.

Perfect base for a cycle touring holiday. Quiet, safe lanes in every direction. The cottage was a delight, in a pretty lane. Every thing one needed for self catering, dining and sitting in an open plan room. Spacious yet cosy! Comfortable and homely, we would definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cart Lodge. A beautiful, rural setting yet close to local attractions. The owner made us feel very welcome. Would have happily stayed for more than one week and would love to return.

Cart Lodge is in a rural quiet location which was just right for our vacation. The property was very clean and good cooking equipment was provided for self catering. The property owner was very friendly and helpful without being intrusive, in other words, a good friendly character. There were not any disturbances from the neighbourhood.
