Property code: OC-OLDBAK

Set in the heart of the fishing port and small seaside town of Newlyn, this gorgeous property is the perfect destination for couples or a small family wishing to explore this intriguing part of West Cornwall. Newlyn itself has plenty to offer, with a plethora of fish mongers selling fresh from the boats, a boutique cinema, an eclectic mix of art galleries and interesting shops, traditional pubs and great places to eat. Just a mile along the lovely promenade is the larger town of Penzance, where you will find more shops and restaurants, a small theatre, an Art Deco lido and even – half a mile outside the town centre – a vineyard that you may tour. St Michael’s Mount, reached via a causeway at low tide or a boat at high tide, is 4.5 miles away and, in the opposite direction, the delightful village of Mousehole (‘Mowzel’ to the locals) is just 2 miles.

The high standards and attention to detail of the cottage are immediately obvious when you step into the bright and open lounge, where a beamed ceiling, sash window and timber floor complement comfortable, modern furnishings, including a dining table and four chairs. Thoughtful touches include an inglenook seat and framed map of the area, and this is the place to gather around the wood burner, read, watch TV or play one of the selection of board games that are provided. Steps lead down to the very smart, Shaker-style kitchen with a breakfast bar and four stools, built-in appliances and Belfast sink and tap with useful hose attachment. In the two bedrooms upstairs the same high quality continues, from the traditional-style column radiators to the adjustable shutters at the windows. The stylish decorating extends to the heavenly shower room, in which functionality and aesthetics come together to create a real wow factor.

From the kitchen, bi-fold doors lead to a sunny, enclosed and private courtyard with beautiful patterned paving, festoon lights and a table and chairs.

Comfortable, well equiipped, and a great base for West Cornwall generally and Newlyn School of Art in particular. And for Newlyn, being able to park just down the road is a plus! Our second time at the Old Bakery, all good.

A beautiful modern well equipped cottage in the heart of Newlyn, within a few minutes walking distance of the centre of the fishing town. The cottage is beautifully well maintained & has everything you would need, as well as some additional welcoming items. The beds are so comfortable and quality items are throughout the cottage. There are somRead moree low ceilings walking into rooms downstairs so be prepared to duck if youre tall!! There is no parking at the cottage but we didnt find this an issue as we always managed to find a spot close by, but I could understand this wouldnt be suitable for everyone. The cottage is on a main road, we didnt find this an issue with traffic as we were out the majority of the day & there wasnt too much noise early / late in the day but not everyone will like this. We loved the cottage, the modern airy vibe was perfect for our needs and we would certainly return. Hide

Lovely bright kitchen and patio. Livingroom is quite dark, we had to get the lights on even on daytime.

Lovely cottage, perfect for popping to the many pubs, cafes and restaurants in Newlyn. Five minute saunter to the beach and the art gallery. Only problem is the noise from the traffic, which starts very early in the morning and even with the windows closed is very loud, but having stayed here before we knew what to expect. I would stay again. The bRead moreeds are very comfy and the cottage clean. Swanky shower room! Hide

The cottage was fabulous, lovely beds and fantastic bathroom. Owners have gone above and beyond with little touches. Only drawback is the very busy road right next to the Cottage which can be noisy am/pm in the bedrooms.Locals we found not terribly friendly to holidaymakers.

Extremely comfortable and well equipped cottage. The biggest problem is the really busy and noisy road. It is impossible to sleep with the windows open, even a small amount. Some of the locals are as happy as someone on death row. We won't be returning.

The Old Bakery is the hidden gem of Newlyn. From booking to departure the whole holiday was stress free and we thoroughly enjoyed our time staying in the house. From the pink front door to the underfloor heating in the bathroom, there have been no compromises with the refurbishment of this house. The beds are super comfy, the kitchen is a dreamRead more and the cute little welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits was well received upon arrival. The owners have gone above and beyond here and we loved our stay. They have literally thought of everything from a board games cupboard to cookbooks! The location is superb. There are shops, a chip shop, a pub and a little cafe to name a few places all within a couple of minutes stroll. We parked the car each night in the Duke St public car park which was free overnight from 4pm - 9am and was ideal for us. We would 100% recommend a stay at this property. It was a welcome retreat and we would return again without question! A well deserved 5 star review! Thank you! Hide

Lovely home and so close to shops, pubs and beach. No parking which advised but the nearest carpark was not even 1 minute walk and free from 4pm till 9am.

The busy road could have been mentioned. The cottage hadn't been cleaned thoroughly with crisps on the floor. Also there were dirty things in the dishwasher and the oven shelf hadn't been cleaned and had old food on it.

We had a lovely stay and there is nothing to fault with the booking process (other than it felt strange to have no human/personal contact at all)or the quality of the cottage but the noise from the location of the cottage was not what we expected. The road is incredibly busy with cars speeding through Newlyn and due to the narrowness of the road weRead more had cars pulling up onto the kerb right in front of the front door. Perhaps on your website you could have a section that highlighted aspects worth knowing about the property. The cottage is beautifully decorated with lots of modern features which we enjoyed. Hide
