This handsome property is just over 0.5 miles outside Crich, a pretty village on the edge of the Derbyshire Dales that you may recognise as the setting for the fictional village of Cardale in the TV series Peak Practice. The village has a shop, a bakery and two great pubs, and the National Tramway Museum (Crich Tramway Village) which features a recreated period village with vintage trams taking visitors out into the countryside and back. The market town of Matlock, 8 miles south, has been a thriving tourist destination since it was a spa town in the 19th century and offers independent shops as well as numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants. Don’t miss the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site (7 miles) with its fascinating series of historic mill complexes.
The stylish lounge has plump sofas and a bright armchair set around a multi-fuel burner, with prints of wildlife art from the 1800s and early 1900s adorning the walls. A dining table featuring bench seating with sheepskin throws for comfort offers a sociable space for evening meals. The small kitchen has all you require to self-cater, and there’s also a convenient shower room on the ground floor. Take care on the staircase, which is open at the start. There are two bedrooms upstairs: one with a super-king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made into twin beds on request, and a smaller room with a small (4’) double bed suitable for one person. Both are beautifully furnished, and the king-size has an attractive ornamental fireplace.
Enjoy morning coffee or a sundowner at the table and chairs to the side of the property. Enclosed spaces for dogs allow your pups to get some fresh air safely, and feel free to have a picnic on the field at the back or use it as an area to exercise your dogs. A locked store for bikes is handy for guests planning to explore on two wheels.
