Retreat to this terraced character cottage, 6 miles from Cockermouth and 7 miles north of Keswick. The village centre is reached within a mile and has swings and space for ball games, and you can see the resident ducks in the stream. This rural setting offers countless walking opportunities, including climbing the mighty Skiddaw and the riverside trail to the Lord's Seat (both 6 miles), Ullock Pike (5 miles) and Binsey Fell (3 miles) which was described by Wainwright as 'a simple walk for a big view'. A gentle climb of 3 miles from Bassenthwaite brings you to the Cumbria Way and Dash Falls. Or a 3-mile stroll through fields takes you to the ancient church of St Bega. The Lake District Wildlife Park (1 miles) and an alpaca farm (1.5 miles) are among the nearby family-friendly activities, while adult groups can pay a visit to the local distillery (1.5 miles).
The front door opens into the hallway, leading to an open-plan lounge/dining room. This has a Smart TV, a wood burner housed in a brick fireplace, cushy seating and two windows; there’s also a dining table with seating for the whole group. A charming kitchen provides everything you need to self-cater during your visit. On the first floor is the master bedroom which has a pretty double bed, and a second double bedroom has space for the cottage’s cot to be set up if required. The stylish family bathroom is on this level with a walk-in shower.
To the front of the property there is a private bench in the shared courtyard space.
