This attractive semi-detached retreat is the perfect spot for a family holiday in Cornwall and it would also suit a group of friends travelling together. It’s located in the pretty village of Tresillian, right on the edge of a creek that leads through Truro and out to sea. This is a sleepy little village with a handful of shops and a lovely local pub. There are several scenic countryside footpaths to enjoy including one that will take you along the riverbank to St Clement and Malpas. Truro (4 miles away) is the only city in Cornwall and has a fine cathedral with high towers and Victorian stained glass windows. Its busy streets are lined with plenty of interesting shops to browse and a good range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. There are some lovely beaches nearby at Chapel Porth and St Agnes (14 miles) from where you can walk the coast path to the dramatic ruins of Wheal Coates Tin Mine and marvel at the splendid views across the bay. Porthtowan Beach is just 13.5 miles away and is one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing beaches.
The cottage sits in an ample plot and is spacious and light throughout. The cosy lounge has wooden floors and a bay window overlooking the garden. There is a compact but well-equipped kitchen with an open archway leading into the adjacent dining room. Here, guests will find a charming dining table and a sideboard stocked with games. This is a lovely sociable space where the whole group can gather for meals or games evenings. Upstairs, there are three welcoming and tranquil bedrooms. The master bedroom is king-size with wonderful views across the garden to the creek. There is also a twin room, a single room and a sizable family bathroom featuring a bath, separate shower and a heated towel rail.
The gardens are fully enclosed to the front and rear with a combination of hedges and fencing. To the rear of the house is an apex-ceiling conservatory set up with comfortable easy chairs. This is just the spot to sit and enjoy a drink and soak up the warmth of the sun as you look out across the tranquil countryside and creek views. From there, a lawn runs down to a low hedge and a small back gate. To one side of the lawn is a raised and covered seating area and there’s a mature apple tree on the grounds too. Stepping through the back gate guests can access the waterside and in season, there is often a swan nest within sight. To the front are a driveway and a small lawn.
