A charming, stone cottage, this inviting holiday property makes a comfortable base from which to explore Derbyshire. In an elevated position above the Amber Valley and Ashover, 4.5 miles from Matlock, the one-bedroom retreat sleeps two guests and is perfect for anyone eager to explore the Peak District. Venture 5.5 miles to the edge of the national park, with its myriad opportunities for walking, cycling and climbing. Drive 9.5 miles to visit the impressive, Tudor stately home of Haddon Hall, or 4 miles to see the beautiful Lumsdale Waterfall near Matlock, then afterwards head into the town to go shopping or dine out. Chatsworth House, 9 miles away, with its beautiful gardens, is another must while you are here.

Make your way inside to find a welcoming, open-plan lounge/diner where you can relax together after your long walks on comfortable seating, in front of your favourite boxset or a film on the Smart TV. This room also has a dining table, for quiet meals together, conveniently positioned close to the entrance to the modern kitchen. The kitchen is well-equipped to ensure you can prepare homecooked meals, and has a door onto the outside space. Upstairs in a gallery bedroom (with sloping ceilings and limited headroom) there is a king-size bed. There is an en-suite bathroom up here too.

The cottage opens onto a tiny courtyard area to the front of the property, with a loveseat, where you can relax with a hot drink or something fizzy and take in the beautiful views.

Lovely little cozy cottage with everything you could possibly need. Well located for the village too and lovely views. Very clean and dog friendly and Pam the owner is the most welcoming friendly lady and always on hand to help if you need it. Would definitely recommend.

Myself and my partner very much enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is in a lovely, quiet location with great views and places to walk nearby. It is also not far from Matlock where we could do lots of exploring. The cottage was very tidy, homely, and had everything you could possibly need. Small but perfectly formed. Handy for the visits we had planned. Parking was good, nearest supermarket was at Clay cross.

We had a really lovely Time in little hillside, great cottage, had everything we needed and more. Really lovely welcome bag full of essentials and goodies. Ashover is a great little village and in a great location to get to Matlock, Bakewell and Thankyou for a great stay, would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage. Just what we needed. Lots of walks locally and further afield. Even managed to visit Hardwick Hall, a zen garden, play golf and do a Parkrun. The welcome package was also well appreciated. Walking down to the pub for an evening meal also worked well.

A quaint little cottage - well-equipped and located in an area with lots of great places to visit. Our hosts were lovely, and always helpful. Three nice local pubs with plenty of choice for ale. Highly recommend the cottage for a restful time away. The welcome gifts were a nice touch.

Sorry to be leaving this beautiful place. Enjoyed stunning walks, very pretty villages and breathtaking views. I recommend a visit to Wirksworth. Great wee cosy restful place with great access to local walks and a short drive to other great locations - would recommend circular walk through Dovedale

Little Hillside was a perfect long weekend or midweek getaway. Very compact and ideal for a few nights. It was a really lovely little cottage, finished to a high standard and amazing views and wonderful walks from the doorstep. The host was very kind and helpful too. X

Lovely cosy property ideal for a couple. Property is nicely furnished with a delightful welcome hamper provided on arrival. Allocated parking space is tight for even a small vehicle, visitors will need to be aware of manoeuvring limitations. Pam was friendly and provided lots of helpful local information.

A very comfortable, compact cottage with everything you could need. Well placed for local walks. The Ashover villagers are very friendly - we highly recommend 'Stamp', the village shop/PO, and the Black Swan pub. Wish we'd been able to stay longer.

Superb cottage, so beautifully done! So cosy and warm. Ashover is a real gem of a place to stay. Great walks from the front door. Hardick, Chatsworth always a pleasure. Hillside is lovely but it's for two people and does not need a washing machine. It's tiny and there is no garden so where would you dry?? Take it out and provide a cupboard for food instead. The pull in shown for parking is not for the cottage but for the owner. Luckily we had a small car. The company send far too many emails about arrive and deparRead moret times. Super little cottage. Well fitted, comfortable and warm. Many good walks right from the door. Make these as long or short as you like. Ours usually ended at the Black Swan. Never got to the tea shop as it was always closed by the time we got back.

Very small, cute but well-equipped cottage. Owenr very helpful. Lovely location - visited the Stamp Cafe which did a lovely lunch/coffee. Great Farm Shop. Enjoyed The Black Swan and the Old Poets Corner. Only here three nights, but went on some lovely local walks and went on Peak Rail Special Train in Matlock.

Little Hillside had everything we needed and fab location for a wonderful exploration of the Peak District. Bed was so comfortable and despite the shower not being a shower! We loved having a bath instead!! (and water always hot!) All clean and facilities perfect. Thank you, Pam!
