Sitting at the end of a quiet lane amid stunning countryside is this traditional stone cottage; with ample space for three guests, a lovely garden and wonderful views, it’s the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the Dales. Known for its natural beauty, the Dales is very popular with walkers, pot-holers and cavers. Pick up the Pennine Way, which runs close to the cottage, or challenge yourself to summit one or more of the Three Peaks during your stay - Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are all within 20 miles of the cottage. If all that exercise makes you hungry, pop out to the two village pubs, one of which is on the Pennine Way (4 miles away). Discover the incredible intricate maze of caves at Clapham, 7.5 miles away, or the White Scar caves, 6 miles away. Enjoy a leisurely trip to the café and shop in the centre of Horton (8 miles away), and for more country pubs and tearooms visit Settle (6 miles away) and Ingleton (11.5 miles). For a more leisurely way to take in the dramatic scenery, catch a train at Horton (0.5 miles away) or Ribblehead (6 miles) and explore the area on the Settle to Carlisle railway line.

The cottage features a spacious open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge. The cosy living space features an exposed stone wall, a TV and DVD player, comfy sofas to lounge on, and a warming wood burner set in a cute brick fireplace. The kitchen/dining space has a more contemporary feel, with wooden flooring, stylish units and an attractive arched window. On the first floor are the two lovely bedrooms. First up is the spacious king-size room with chic, monochrome décor and an armchair where you can sit and admire the views. The light and comfy single room features another arched window and innovative storage solutions. Both bedrooms use the tasteful, contemporary shower room with a double walk-in shower and underfloor heating.

To the front of the cottage, there is a gated private paved/gravelled area with a bistro table and chairs, perfect to sit and relax with a drink in the sunshine. At the back is an enclosed pretty lawned garden with a bench and incredible views of the Settle to Carlisle railway towards Pen-Y-Ghent and the stunning countryside.

Really lovely cottage with everything you need. Lovely setting with walks from the door and some beautiful nearby villages to explore. Great 5 things to do recommendations from the owners. The back garden has small dividing walls so isnt dog proof unless you have a very small dog. The front garden is fully enclosed but doesnt have a view.

We loved this little Gem of a cottage . Being railway enthusiasts it was just perfect to watch the trains go past from the cottage garden . The cottage was welcoming and tastefully furnished and had nods to the railway in some of the decor / signs . This is probably the best equiped, cleanest cottage we have stayed in with most comfortable double bed mattress ever and fabulous shower. We will be back.

Had a smashing time at the cottage exploring the surrounding area with our dog. Loved the views from the train ride to Carlisle and we walked all over the dales and lakes. We can't wait to come back!

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely, well equipped cottage. We found plenty to do despite the weather. The dog enjoyed the ducks! Took the drive to Hawes well worth it and Skipton and the Lakes all worth the effort.

Great holiday - we did more than some of us expected too! Refreshed old memories of a time more than 50years ago when we spent most weekends here above and below the ground and made new ones (Wild swim was wonderfully refreshing on a v.quiet day in Stainforth) The people we've met have made it v special.

An amazing and thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing break. Such careful thought has gone into making No2 a truly 'home from home' stay. Yorkshire 3 peaks a must. A fabulous week in a fabulous cottage, the weather mixed but did not deter us from walking the 3 peaks (not in 1 day!!) using the circular walks recommended in the cottage (thank you for sharing these) Also climbed the Fountain Hill from Malham Tarn and a lovely circular walk from Stainforth to Langcliffe. What a beautiful cottage! We had a fabulous week and the weather was lovely. We did the circular walk at Ribblehead Viaduct and also the circular walk to Malham Cove and the Gordale Scar, long but well worth it! Had a stunning train journey from Settle to Appleby, the views from the train were amazing! Also Aysgarth Falls were lovely. Hawes, SkiptoRead moren worth a visit and one day we went to the Lakes! We very much enjoyed our relaxing stay in your delightful cottage. The weather was very kind to us, even on the day of the thunderstorms they forecasted. We did the pleasant circular walk under the Ribblehead Viaduct ( can't do long hikes anymore) and were lucky enought to the see the flying scotsman. Also loved the train ride to Appleby and back. We had a lovely holiday, were very pleased with the property which is beautiful and it's location. We do have a couple of suggestions - longer non-slip mat in the shower would be useful, particularly for those not so steady on their feet, as you have to step off the shower mat onto the shower base to exit the shower. The directions given are to leRead moreave the M6 at junction 34 and follow the signs to Ingleton, however there is no signage for Ingleton initially - perhaps "follow the signs to Kirkby Lonsdale", then to Ingleton as you are some miles from the M6 before there is a sign for Ingleton Hide

We have enjoyed a glorious week- so lucky with the dry weather and sun most days. We booked the week to conincide with the Appleby Horse Fair and choose to travel on the train - well worth it on both counts. The cottage is well cared for and so well equipped. The biggest issue we had was the property was described as having an enclosed garden and this was not correct . As we have a dog we always tick the box for enclosed garden The issue could be resolved by adding a gate Apart from this the property was excellent

Nice week, lovely cottage-well equipped to high standard. Good location for walks. Weather was variable but mostly wet. Stunning scenery when sun came out! Great walks at Malham, Whernside, Clapham to Ingleborough, Ingleton Waterfalls. Settle to Carlisle train worth it, but didn`t stay in Carlisle long! Great stay. Thanks.

We have had a lovely stay at "No 2". The Cottage is a lovely location and a very relaxed place. We highly recommend the Himalayan Gardens. A must is to go to the viaduct and watch the steam train go over "Magical". We also took the train up to Carlisle. It hakes about a hour and a half. The views are stunning. Best fish and chips , Hawes.
