This lovely, 18th-century cottage is the ideal place for a coastal getaway. Appledore is a quaint but lively village, and you’re just metres from a range of independent shops and galleries. There is also a fantastic range of eateries, many of which offer enviable views across the water. If you fancy a bit of history, then why not visit the North Devon Maritime Museum or spend time on the quayside where you can try your hand at crabbing. In the summer months, take the foot ferry across to Instow and wander the Tarka Trail or watch the sunset from the pubs and restaurants dotted along the road. For a beach day, head 2.5 miles to the fabulous beach at Westward Ho! with its distinctive pebble ridge where you can try your hand at a range of water sports. There’s also a sea pool to splash around in.
From the street, enter this pretty property and immediately find yourself in the cosy and welcoming lounge with its mix of contemporary and traditional furniture with wooden floors. A large window looks out onto the street, and there’s space to snuggle up in front of the wood burner and enjoy a bit of TV or choose a book from the shelf. A step up from here takes you to the lovely, cottage-style kitchen/diner which is well equipped for your cooking needs, plus there’s an oak dining table and chairs to seat four people. A handy utility leads off from here housing the washing machine and extra crockery and glasses. A door from the kitchen leads to the garden at the rear. Upstairs, there are two, inviting bedrooms – a pretty double room with solid wood furniture, plenty of storage and an en-suite shower room as well as a cosy twin. Both rooms have wall-mounted TVs so are ideal for lazy lie-ins. There is also a bathroom as well as a separate WC.
Outside, there is a small but attractive, enclosed cottage garden with seating on two levels and a dining set – perfect for alfresco dining. Once outside the back door you walk up 4 steps to the 1st level patio wit a small table and 2 chairs then walk up 4 steps to the 2nd level garden area with a dining table/4 chairs and a lovely painted wooden bench. The garden is set to patio with plenty of surrounding shrubs and plants and a couple of stone steps between the two levels.
