Tucked away in a quiet spot at the foot of Bull Hill, just under 100 metres from the harbourside, is this unique holiday home. It’s perfect for a small family or group of friends happy to share. The town of Fowey, is full of multicoloured cottages, perched on the hillsides leading down to the sea. The town has a fantastic collection of unique local shops and boutiques, along with harbourside cafes, pubs which will give you a hearty welcome and a good atmosphere, and restaurants offering tempting local produce. If you want a unique insight into the local species in these waters, you could visit Fowey Aquarium (about 100 metres away), where residents include specimens brought in by local fishermen. You could time your stay to coincide with the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature, held in May, or the Fowey Royal Regatta, held in August.
The cottage is set across three floors and is entered through the ancient front door. On the ground floor is a light and bright twin bedroom and a handy shower/utility room. In addition to a shower and WC, there’s also a sink, washing machine, dryer and countertop freezer. A door from the utility room leads to the rear courtyard, a convenient spot for storing beach equipment which provides access to the garden via a metal spiral staircase. Inside and upstairs, on the first floor, you’ll find the main double bedroom with delightful, exposed beams, a feature shared by the cosy single room. A fresh, spacious family bathroom with wooden flooring and cool, coastal tones, also sits on this floor. Finally, on the upper level is the fabulous open-plan living area, sat under a vaulted ceiling. The compact kitchen is just off the living area, which is a welcoming space with plenty of comfy seating. Three steps lead from here up to the dining area, where French doors lead out to the garden, accessed via a small set of steps.
The impressive garden is backed by the crenellated wall of Place House with views also to the bell tower of St Fimbarrus Church. It is sloping, but has a level, paved terrace with garden table and chairs, and a BBQ. You can access it from the dining area, but there is also an external spiral staircase leading from the ground floor courtyard.
