Rumburgh, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of Suffolk, offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While it's a relatively small village, there's a wealth of activities to explore in the surrounding area including a vineyard and an excellent network of public footpaths through the countryside. Nearby Bungay (6.2 miles) has an award winning dairy farm where you can buy fresh milk, cheese and bread and is a delicious must-visit during your stay. Heading towards the coast, you will reach Halesworth (3.8 miles) which has a lovely thoroughfare lined with boutique shops, a scrumptious deli, and pubs as well as a train station and food store. The popular coastal gem of Southwold is within easy reach by car (12.2 miles) where you can while away the day on the sandy shores with a picnic, take a dip in the sea and visit the eccentric amusements on the pier.

This charming period cottage is full to the brim with character. Step inside this timber framed home that has exposed wooden beams, beautiful old doors, inglenook fireplaces and original sloping floorboards. You are first welcomed into a little glass storm porch that has two perfectly placed armchairs to view the garden and the rising sunshine with your morning cup of tea. You then come to a handy boot room with plenty of space for muddy wellies and coats following a lovely long walk in the surrounding countryside. There is a country style kitchen equipped with all you could need for your self-catering stay and generous dining room with a large regal wooden dining table and chairs that is fit for a banquet. Following through this ancient house takes you to the sitting room that is warm and cosy with chesterfield style sofas, an original inglenook fireplace with wood burner, and a Smart TV. There are two staircases to take you up to the bedrooms. The first accessed from the dining room winds its way round to a small landing with access to the main bedroom and the twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The main bedroom is spacious with wonderful sloping floors and a sumptuous super-king bed fit for a king! Across the room, a door leads to another small landing where there is a shared family bathroom, with roll top bath and shower, as well as a delightful double bedroom and second staircase that leads back down into the hall.

The gardens are situated at the front of the property and laid mainly to lawn with views over the adjacent fields. There is an open pond that attracts a multitude of wildlife to the garden. There is also a handy storage shed for bikes and a covered stable too.

Beautifully presented and equipped large timber-framed cottage in a delightfully peaceful location. We would thoroughly recommend this property. We were especially impressed with the farmhouse restoration record booklet!
