A charming and quirky mid-terrace ‘chocolate box cottage’ nestled in a prestigious hillside position and just a short stroll from Porthleven's scenic harbour (0.2 miles). The cottage enjoys far-reaching sea and coastal views stretching from the iconic harbourside clock tower and pier, over the golden sandy beach out towards the rugged cliffs of Lizard Point. This lovely fishing village is home to a fantastic selection of eateries, boutique shops and cosy inns huddled around the picturesque harbour. Whether it’s exploring the scenic coastline, indulging in delicious seafood or simply enjoying the peaceful ambience, Porthleven is a delightful base for a coastal break. A little further afield is the maritime town of Falmouth (15.5 miles), home of the National Maritime Museum and to the west, a trip to St Michael’s Mount at Marazion (8 miles) makes for a special day out.
This unique cottage is aptly named for its compact size, making it one of the smallest homes in Cornwall, having been built in the gap between the surrounding houses. With a creative use of space and careful design, a lot has been packed into this little gem. Thick, painted stone walls and unusually shaped rooms all add to the characterful feel. Stepping in from the street there’s a useful hallway with space to offload outdoor wear, then head on through the narrowest point into the kitchen and dining room which includes everything you need for home cooked meals. To the rear and up some steps is the compact but functional shower room. The wooden, open-tread staircase invites you upstairs, with the cosy living room at the front providing two comfortable armchairs and lovely views out across rooftops to the town and distant ocean. To the rear, and with an open layout, is the charming bedroom with double bed. Whilst space is limited, there is good storage to unpack your cases and the wooden floorboards and brass bedstead fit beautifully with the ambience of the cottage.
Although this cottage lacks a garden, it compensates with a thoughtfully placed bench at the front providing a delightful spot for a morning coffee in the sun whilst observing the world around you. Just a brief stroll of 0.2 miles will lead you to the charming harbour where numerous seating areas await, inviting you to relax and relish in the maritime activities taking place locally.
