This stunning detached cottage is located on the edge of the River Stour and next to the historic Throop Mill. Set in the picturesque village of Throop, you’ll be approximately 4 miles from Bournemouth, which is the home of award-winning sandy beaches and the start of the Dorset Jurassic Coast. Throop is the perfect spot for you to relax where you will find walks directly from the property into the open countryside. Alternatively, take the short drive to the historic town of Christchurch, approximately 4 miles away. Here, you will find a historic priory church, castle ruins, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and shops. There is something for everyone.

Entering the property via electric gates, you are welcomed to a magical spot where you can hear the river flowing at the end of the garden and the birds singing in the trees. Stepping inside the property, you are welcomed into a bright and spacious lounge with a Smart TV, a wood burner for those cold winter evenings, and French doors leading to the terrace. The well-equipped kitchen offers you the space to cook up a lovely evening meal or breakfast before a day of exploring what Dorset has to offer. There is also a separate dining room for all the family to enjoy meals together. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and another with twin single beds, both with built-in wardrobes. The family shower room completes this floor.

Outside, the terrace area has been well designed for all your needs. In the secluded area, you can all enjoy a relaxing morning coffee or a day of sunbathing. Watch the river flow by, and if you are lucky, the local wildlife will be around for you to enjoy. The remaining part of the garden is mainly laid to lawn with a shed which can be used to store bikes, fishing equipment, golf clubs or beach toys. Please note, there is direct access to the river and children need to be supervised at all times.

A lovely, clean and beautifully presented cottage. Within short distances of beaches, towns and walks. If you love to be by water and enjoy the birds singing and ducks quacking as you wake up then this is the place for you. We enjoyed it so much we have booked again for next year.

We were disappointed at the mercenary attitude of Original Cottages who refused to consider bringing our booking forward by one day, because of a changed hospital appointment, without charging us 75. The owners were kept in the dark about this and apologised. Original Cottages should apologise and acknowledge that we did not benefit from the 5 nighRead morets we paid for, as we had to return after 4. Hide

A lovely cottage spotlessly clean and set in beautiful grounds. We loved the peaceful setting and loved watching the wildlife in the garden. We would definitely recommend this property and will certainly be booking again next year.

The property needs a good clean inside and out, The windows have not been cleaned in weeks, Cobwebs inside every corner with spiders,,,and very bad outside, But more importantly I would like to send you pictures of safety issues we had with our 2 year old son, Screws left on the property floor, nice toys for my 2 year old to play with. Along withRead more a broken screw stud sticking out of the decking that ripped my wife's slipper...This could have been my child's leg in which I would be seeing a solicitor right now. A piece of carpet missing at bathroom door, the bare carpet gripper left in place with the teeth sticking out...perfect for a 2 year old to impale hi foot on. Kitchen Tap leaking, Could only shower for 2 minutes as the drainage was blocked. People came on to the property, never asked or spoke to us. was chatting and looking a a Porsche inside the garage while we sat in the garden, Feel we were being ushered out as some guy on a ride on lawn mower entered the property at 9.40 am and proceeded to cut the grass, Please feel free to contact me, Very unhappy customer. I will leave a review on Trust pilot after I have spoken to you, I feel its only fair to give you the option to speak to us. Hide

Lovely property in a great location. The quality of the furnishings and layout of the house was very good. You have lovely views of the river from the property, and we saw pheasants, a Woodpecker and squirrels in the garden. There are walks from the house, and the New Forest, Christchurch and Bournemouth are all nearby. The only negatives I haveRead more are that there wasnt a vegetable peeler or potato masher in the kitchen, and although there is a wood burner in the living room, there are no tools to clean it out etc. Also, there is no cafetire or other coffee making facility, but on the plus side there was a wonderful selection of different teas for you to choose from. We throughly enjoyed our stay for the week, and felt sad when it was time to leave. We are hoping to plan a return visit next year. Hide
