This delightful retreat is in the small and tranquil Norfolk village of East Somerton, which is home to the ancient ivy-clad ruins of St Mary’s Church, hidden away in a wooded grove, which you can visit as you head along the lovely circular walk to the peaceful seaside village of Winterton-on-Sea (2 miles). The village is home to a gorgeous soft sandy beach, and the Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve offers the chance to spot terns and natterjack toads, as well as the seal colony which can be found between Winterton and Horsey (3.5 miles). The nearest of the Broads, Martham Broad, is less than a mile away and is part of a network of 125 miles of waterways criss-crossing the county.
