Southwold, a charming coastal town on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, beckons with its timeless allure. Renowned for its quintessential British seaside charm, Southwold boasts a picturesque pier with eccentric amusements, a promenade adorned with vibrant beach huts, a working lighthouse, and golden sands that stretch along the North Sea. The town exudes a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for leisurely strolls among its pastel-hued cottages and independent shops. Foodies can savour the fresh seafood from the famous fish and chip shop or fisherman’s hut down by the quay whilst those interested in learning about beer can take a tour of Adnam’s Brewery. The neighbouring village of Walberswick is a gorgeous little gem that is a must visit during your stay. Wander along the beach and catch the foot ferry across the water where you can enjoy a tipple in one of the great pubs or a yummy treat from the deli or ice-cream parlour.

This iconic Regency Grade II-listed house is exceptional in every sense and has undergone a wonderful renovation with comfort and style at its heart. Situated in arguably the most prominent and best location in Southwold, with a unique coastal frontage and outstanding views over both the sea and Southwold’s marshes. The property offers parking for up to four cars which, in itself, is a rarity in this coastal town. In addition to this, you have direct access to two beach slipways without the need to cross any roads, meaning you and your guests are within easy reach of the golden sands of Southwold beach. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials for your stay, including high quality cooking appliances and a coffee pod machine. Flooded with natural light and with stunning views of the sea and marshes, it is a fantastic space to prepare delicious meals to be enjoyed at the generous dining table or outside on the south facing terrace. There is also a fitted bar area with a built-in drinks fridge to keep your evening sundowners cool. The sitting room has sumptuous sofas, an electric real-flame effect stove and a smart television making this a cosy space to relax in. A light and comfortable garden room with doors to the garden adjoins the sitting room and is the perfect place to sit to enjoy morning coffee or evening drinks whilst watching the constantly changing seascape.

There is a well-supplied utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge and a ceiling hung clothes airer. A door from the utility room leads to an outside hot water shower to wash those sandy toes following a day at the beach. The first of the five bedrooms comprises a suite on the ground floor with a super-king size bed (which can be made into a twin on request). This room offers beautiful views over the marshes and an elegant en-suite shower room. Four bedrooms are provided upstairs on the first floor with every room boasting stunning views. There is a king-size bed with en suite shower room, a super king size zip and link with a further en-suite shower room, whilst the other super king room has direct access to the luxury shared family bathroom with free standing bath and shower. This bathroom is shared with a bespoke bunk bedroom, offering full sized beds with reading lights and custom joinery. Each room has been lovingly designed to create a tranquil setting to rest and recharge during your stay, with luxurious beds sitting effortlessly alongside gorgeous furnishings.

The outside space is equally as stylish as the interior of the house. There is a wraparound garden that has uninterrupted views across the sea, with a large lawn perfect for garden games. A generous terrace offers outdoor seating, a dining table, and chairs for al fresco meals to be enjoyed morning, noon, and night as well as a charcoal bbq.

We had the most wonderful stay at Gun Hill Place. The weather was wild but it was cosy inside! The house is very well appointed, the decor is beautiful and has been renovated to a very high standard. I would thoroughly recommend.
