Property code: OC-P00308

This charming, detached cottage, which is spread across two floors, is an idyllic getaway for families or a group of friends who want a tranquil, rural getaway on the Cornish coast. Located in the sleepy hamlet of Crugmeer in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this cottage boasts scenic countryside walks and picturesque beaches surrounding it. There are a large number of pristine Cornish beaches close to the property. The closest beach is the sandy Trevone Bay (1 mile), but don’t miss the popular Harlyn Bay Beach, which is 3 miles away. For shopping and places to dine out, head into Padstow town, which is 2 miles away. Another ideal beach which is within walkable distance from the cottage is the dog friendly beach of Tregirls, at low tide the beach can expand up to nearly a mile and half with golden sand and small caves to explore.

Stepping into the cottage, there’s a convenient cloakroom for you to hang up your coat, which also has a WC inside. Entering the lounge, this space feels homely and comfortable. Relax on one of the sofas or the armchair and admire the stone fireplace. The tall window lets in plenty of natural light, making it an excellent room for a rainy day. Walking through into the kitchen, it’s a neat and well-organised room with lots of surface space for preparing a meal — which you can do while admiring the countryside view through the wide window, off the kitchen is a handy utility room. When it’s time to sit down and enjoy a special meal, the charming dining room is the perfect place. In the centre of the room is a table and chairs which are underneath a characterful wooden beamed ceiling. Open the door to the patio to enjoy a gentle breeze while you’re tucking into your dinner. To catch the afternoon sun or sunset, head to the sunroom — which has comfortable rattan furniture and looks out onto the garden. Also on the ground floor is the master bedroom, which boasts a king-size bed and an en-suite with a shower. Climb the stairs to reach the first floor, where you’ll find two more bedrooms. Both of these rooms have twin beds and offer distant sea views from both the front and rear windows.

This property boasts a large lawned garden, surrounded by an attractive dry-stone wall. Sit on the bench at the bottom of the garden and gaze out across the serene countryside to the distant sea views. To the side of the house, there’s also a sheltered patio area, which is the perfect spot for firing up the BBQ and sitting with a drink. If you’re really lucky with the weather, make the most of the sun loungers in the garage. In addition to these two outdoor spaces, there’s another secure, gated lawned area to the rear of the property with a private gate leading to the lane.

We were so impressed with Original Cottages and the cottage we stayed in. OC made the whole process completely seamless and easy and straightforward. The photos of the property give the impression that there is a bathroom on the first floor next to the two twin bedrooms. In fact you have to go downstairs and through the lounge to the hall by the front door. Not much fun in the middle of the night. The lounge and dining rooms are small and crammed particularly for six people. The hallway has a nuRead morember of different levels which presents a trip hazard especially at night. The entrance and driveway is tight and narrow and you have to reverse out as you cant turn your car around. Probably best to visit in the summer months as the garden and outside seating areas are good. Hide

The Mount is very comfortable and practical and in a wonderful location, with Trevone, Hawkers Cove and Padstow all an easy walk away. It is extremely well-equipped and the view from the kitchen window lifted my spirits every morning.

Undoubtably one of the best equipped holiday homes we have stayed at. Ideally suited for coastal walking and only a short drive to various glorious beaches and Padstow when you get tired.

The house is situated in a hamlet in a very quiet and excellent location just between Padstow and Trevone. We loved the house with all these areas where you can sit: outside in the garden (s) and inside in the very sunny extension or just in the living room. From the kitchen you have a lovely view of the green surroundings and sea. You can walk dowRead morenhill to Trevone in 20 minutes, Padstow is a 30-minute walk away. Hide
