Stay at this cosy four-person thatched cottage for a peaceful break in the heart of County Laois, home to Europe's oldest mountain range, magical woodland trails and a popular annual music festival. The central location facilitates travel all over Ireland by car or train from nearby Portarlington. You’ll be 1 mile from Emo Court, where you can walk around the parkland and go for tea and cake in the tearoom. Head to Kildare (13.5 miles) for excellent shopping and eating out, or plan long hikes in the majestic Slieve Bloom mountains (25 miles). For an equestrian experience, visit the Irish National Stud (15.5 miles) to learn about thoroughbred horses and explore woodlands, waterways and tranquil gardens.

This one-storey home has a cosy lounge/dining room with a sofa and a wooden table for enjoying meals together. There’s also a second lounge so your group can spread out during your stay; this space has a sofa plus a lovely window seat. The modern kitchen is ideal for cooking up feasts and preparing picnics, and there are two beautifully decorated double bedrooms (please note, one of the double beds has access from one side only). An elegant bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the inside of this homely dwelling.

Outside, be sure to make the most of the courtyard garden where you’ll have a wooden table and chairs, so you can dine together in the fresh Irish air.

Stayed here 3 times now. As usual a lovely warm and friendly welcome, not to mention the cakes, milk and home made scones. This cottage is in an ideal situation for us for visiting relatives. Everything you need in the cottage for a nice relaxing break.
