Smart and spacious, this bungalow makes the perfect base for a large group to explore the highlights of Connemara and Galway. It’s on the edge of the village of Oughterard, which you can walk to via a footbridge. You can also wander to Lough Carrib less than 500 metres away (the largest lake in Ireland), home to wild brown trout and ideal for fishing, kayaking, and swimming, and going on a scenic lake cruise. Kids will love Loughwell Farm Park (11 miles) with all sorts of outside and inside activities to keep them entertained; visit Galway city (17 miles), known for its traditional Irish music, and vibrant arts and culture scene. Or explore the abandoned silver and lead mines at Glengowla Mines, just 3 miles away, where you can try panning for gold. The pretty seaside village of Spiddle on the shores of Galway Bay (17 miles) is also worth your time.
The bungalow has been lovingly furnished to make a comfortable and relaxing base. It has a cosy lounge with comfy seating, a TV, wood burner and wooden floor. There’s an armchair next to the wood burner in the spacious kitchen/diner, which houses two dining tables, perfect for the kids and adults. There are three bright double bedrooms on the ground floor, with lovely wooden furniture for storing your belongings, as well as a bathroom, and a utility room. The final two bedrooms are on the first floor: a double with an en-suite shower room, and a triple room, which has a double bed and a single bed, and a second shower room. The reading room/playroom on the first floor makes a great addition, providing another space to play games or relax.
On warm days, the beautiful garden is the perfect place to relax or play; it’s fully enclosed with a patio and somewhere to sit and enjoy drinks and meals alfresco, with a BBQ, pretty planting, and gorgeous country views. There’s also a handy lockable shed for storing bulky outdoor gear.
