Just 15 miles from the border city of Carlisle, with its cathedral, museum and castle, this property is the ideal base to explore the Cumbrian coast, Scotland and the Lake District National Park. There are lots of bike routes and walks from your front door and plenty to do in the local area. Visit the Solway Aviation Museum (22.5 miles) or, for something much closer, head to the west of the village where you will find Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve and Wetlands Centre (2 miles) – here you can enjoy the spectacular local wildlife. Why not take a train from Carlisle which has a regular service to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle? The famous Scottish town of Gretna Green is just 22 miles away, where you can visit the wedding anvil or enjoy a day shopping at the outlet village.

This unique farmhouse occupies the grounds of the second-largest fort on Hadrian's Wall. Offering three bedrooms, it is an ideal haven for families seeking a tranquil retreat. Lovely property in Bowness on Solway. Less than 5 min walk to the shore & some excellent views; nice village pub a few doors down. Very comfortable & cosy, with a log burner for added warmth (storage heaters in all rooms as well). Great location to explore Cumbria & The Lakes. Owners have thought of everything equipment wise from what we could Read moresee & the welcome pack was a nice touch as well (especially the selection of cakes). Hide

A well appointed spacious cottage, close to a good pub. The owner runs a tearoom next door so is on hand for any problems and we received a lot of cakes! The decor and furniture is tasteful, the beds comfortable. A really nice place to visit.
