Take a day trip to the island on the MS Oldenburg which departs from the port town of Bideford. The seaside village of Westward Ho! is just 3 miles away, named after Charles Kingsley’s novel. Brightly coloured beach huts line the promenade which is also home to Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘If’ which has been set into the pavement. Enjoy the local area with plenty of pretty gardens and visit nearby National Trust locations, including Tapeley Park (5.5 miles), RHS Rosemoor (11 miles) and Arlington Court (21 miles).
This spacious two-storey barn sits in a courtyard setting and your privacy is assured. On entering you will find yourself in the entrance hall where you are immediately drawn down through the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to the large patio doors and magnificent sea views. This living space has underfloor heating, a Smart TV and comfy seating. There is a large dining table and chairs plus a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cater for your stay. Back up into the hallway and you will find a utility room with a handy separate WC. A small snug/office is next and offers a place to work or catch up on emails, as well as seating and a selection of books puzzles and games. Heading up the stairs, a spacious landing area with seating leads to the three bedrooms, the first of which is a king-size with low windows allowing you to see the fabulous sea views from your bed. This room also has an en-suite shower room. The next bedroom has a 4’ small double bed and the last has a single bed. A family bathroom completes the accommodation.
Stepping outside from the lounge, through large sliding doors is an enclosed garden, with patio and garden furniture leading to a large lawn with charcoal BBQ. It’s a great place to enjoy your morning coffee or sundowner and ideal for those who are looking to bring their four-legged friends.
