Retreat to this peaceful family orientated oasis situated in the idyllic Devonshire countryside settled in the Blackdown AONB. Converted from a long traditional Devon cowbarn, this fantastic cottage offers contemporary open plan kitchen/dining/living facilities, with vaulted ceilings, and stunning views over the Otter Valley. Nestled within 5 acres of private grounds, this beautiful cottage offers a panoramic countryside bolthole to unwind with peaceful walks and settings on your doorstep. The market town of Honiton is a 10 minute drive away with great restaurants and cafes and well known for its antique shops. Cowbyre is only a 20 minute drive away from some of Britain’s most popular beaches – Sidmouth, Lyme Regis, Branscombe and Beer. Guests may also try fine dining or a cookery course at the prestigious River Cottage. There are beautiful walks locally, or on Dartmoor, Exmoor or along the South West Coastal Path overlooking the stunning Jurassic Coast. The pretty village of Upottery is an 8 minute walk away with a traditional dog friendly pub serving good family meals. A 30 minute drive to Exeter offers kayaking and paddleboarding on the Exe Estuary and winding cycling trails to lovely Topsham, Lympstone and dog friendly Exmouth beach, a perfect day out with all the family. The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth and Escot Wildwood have heaps of activities and fun for kids and adults of all ages. Pop into the Otter Valley Field Kitchen for ice cream ( 5 minutes away ) on your way home for a tasty, local award winning treat.

Enter the cottage and you’re instantly welcomed by the home from home décor in the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen. In the lounge space, you’ll find a large comfy sofa to sink into whilst gathering around the wood burner and Smart TV. The family dining table seats 6 guests which leads around to the wonderfully equipped kitchen for meal prepping. To the left of the lounge as you enter is a pretty twin bedroom, ideal for anyone with mobility issues and a large walk-in en-suite shower/wet room and WC. Across the lounge and down a small flight of wooden stairs you’ll find a super-king-size (zip-and-link bed which can be made into a twin on request) bedroom with a beautiful free-standing bath and an en-suite shower room and WC. Completing the cottage upstairs you’ll find a king-size room with an en-suite shower room and WC.

Outside, enjoy your own beautifully kept private garden with plenty of comfortable seating and a family dining space complete with a Weber BBQ and firepit to enjoy the panoramic views and awesome sunsets. Car parking is right outside the cottage with a paved pathway suitable for anyone with a mobility issue.

You'll also find 5 glorious acres of shared grounds around the cottage that give abundant space for children to play, while running safely and freely and having fun on the swings and In-ground trampoline. Open lakes are in the grounds which offer a special place for watching the wildlife. A range of outdoor sporting equipment for family games is provided and the village tennis courts are within walking distance.

A lovely, well equipped, very comfortable cottage with everything thought of and a thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. Wonderful garden/outside area and very peaceful. Would love to stay again.
