Head to Stanhope in the nearby Durham Dales (13.5 miles), a superb place for outdoor activities, and spend a day in Durham (15 miles) for the magnificent cathedral, river walks, shops, bars, and restaurants. Newcastle and the Metrocentre are both also within 15 miles.
