This former fisherman’s cottage, which has been lovingly restored in a contemporary style, yet with many period features, provides a unique holiday experience for families with two dogs in tow. Conveniently located, the cottage is within metres of a wealth of local pubs, the Maritime Museum, the vibrant quayside, and local shops and galleries. If you feel the need to leave Appledore, the whole of North Devon is within easy reach. The sandy, surfing beaches of Woolacombe (23 miles) and Westward Ho! (2.5 miles) are nearby, and the estuary beach at Instow across the river can be accessed via the seasonal passenger ferry. There are also several attractions in the area to suit all tastes and ages, including Tapeley Park, The Big Sheep, The Milky Way, and RHS Rosemoor Gardens (all within 12 miles).
On entering this charming period cottage, guests will find the lounge, where the owner’s attention to detail is clearly in evidence. The exposed beams and large stone fireplace have been lovingly maintained, whilst the furnishings and accessories have been carefully chosen to complement these period features. There is a wood burner-effect gas fire here, which keeps the room lovely and cosy, even in the coolest winter months, as well as a Smart TV and DAB radio. A step leads to the kitchen/diner with its wooden dining table with bench seating and all the appliances you need to whip up memorable holiday meals. When day turns to night, walk past the convenient utility room and upstairs, where three charming bedrooms await. These rooms include a maser king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, Smart TV and balcony, and served by the family shower room, a sumptuous double with another Smart TV, and a cosy twin room.
Outside, there is an enclosed courtyard with garden furniture to the rear of the property, where guests can sit out and enjoy drinks in the evenings, or perhaps a cone from the popular local ice cream company, Hockings.
