Allendale, a picturesque village and the largest community in the Allen Valleys, is part of the North Pennines and is the host of the annual Folk Festival held at the end of September and the amazing New Year Tar Bar’l. There are friendly pubs, cafes just off the marketplace, a quirky sci-fi museum, and a renowned art gallery in the Allendale Forge Studios. This area is known for its breathtaking scenery, beautiful rivers, woodland and moorlands, and is home to a wide range of wildlife. Outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring the many local walking, hiking and cycling trails. Visit nearby Hexham (10.5 miles) for Hexham Abbey, Sele Park, river strolls, shopping and restaurants. Try quad biking at Slaley Hall (9.5 miles) or play golf at the AONB Allendale Golf Club (1.5 miles). This impressive and unique lodge was designed and located with the views in mind sitting unobtrusively as it does within 4,000 square metres of private land above the wooded valley.
Enter the front door into a porch/boot room area with two benches where you can store your outdoor clothing. Head into the open-plan living space and the first thing you will notice is the wall-to-wall windows and the amazing view. The lounge area has a large sofa and footstool where you can unwind in front of the warming wood burner and watch a film on the Smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and more and the dining table is positioned in front of the balcony window so you can enjoy a sociable meal together looking over the valley. A door leads out onto the balcony with garden furniture so you can enjoy indoor/outdoor living in the warmer months. There is a bedroom leading off either side of the main living area. One bedroom has a super-king-size, and the other bedroom a super-king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be made up as a twin on request) and each bedroom has an en-suite with a walk-in, wet-room style shower and WC. Electric blinds and electric operating windows ensure you can control how well you sleep.
Outside, at the front, there is an outside tap and sink, perfect for cleaning boots and your dog’s paws. There is also a secure bike store which can hold four bikes. To the rear, there is a large balcony with lighting and a glazed balustrade so you have uninterrupted views and a sunken four-seater hot tub where you can relax and unwind after a day exploring the area. The skies here are very dark so you can star gaze and even glimpse the aurora borealis from time to time.
