Found along the picture-postcard South West Coast Path, between the picturesque village of Clovelly and the stunning beach at Westward Ho!, this charming cottage sits in the hidden gem of Bucks Mills and offers the perfect seaside getaway. Just a leisurely stroll down the hill lies a captivating beach adorned with remnants of its industrial heritage – abandoned lime kilns and weathered winches dotting the landscape. Explore the myriad of rock pools and enchanting waterfalls, while tales of a devil-built rocky spit add to the area's mystique. Venture into Clovelly (5 miles) to wander its quaint cobblestone streets and historic fishermen's dwellings, or embark on a fishing excursion from the harbour. For surf enthusiasts, the golden sands of Westward Ho! beckon (9 miles), while the vibrant market town of Bideford (9 miles) offers boat trips to the untamed beauty of Lundy Island, where lucky visitors may spot seals, dolphins, and puffins amidst the rugged coastline.

Stepping into this unique coastal retreat, you will soon notice the warming blend of traditional exposed beams and contemporary features including travertine stone floors. The ground floor features the first of two living spaces in the snug area, where guests can relax with their favourite book, before heading across into the open-plan kitchen/diner. The kitchen combined with the attached utility area provides everything you could need on your holiday, whilst the dining table seats all guests comfortably, allowing for laid-back evening meals or a fresh morning breakfast. Completing the ground floor is a shower room. Heading up the wooden stairway will lead you to the primary living area which features comfortable seating and a Smart TV, providing the perfect setting to relax in front of the wood burner on those chillier evenings. When the night draws in, retreat to your choice of three bedrooms, including a king-size, double, and super-king-size zip-and-link which can be separated into two singles upon request. Completing the upper floor is the additional bathroom which features a roll-top bath, separate walk-in shower, and a WC. Finally, make your way into the garage space where you’ll find a ping-pong table and seating to watch the competitive games unfold.

Make your way out of the French doors from the living area to the outdoor patio area which provides a phenomenal space to enjoy an al fresco breakfast with valley views. There is also an additional terrace where you’ll find the charcoal BBQ and further seating, allowing you to enjoy a Devon sunset with your favourite flaming meats on the go.

What a warm and welcoming cottage, felt like a home from home. Well equipped, quality bedding, good sized and spacious. The walk down to the beach is via a steep footpath that will be challenging for less abled persons. Well located for activities in and around the area. Would highly recommend.

Myself and 4 friends had a wonderful mini break at Barnacle. It was such a lovely relaxing place to stay. The house is beautifully decorated and so well equipped. The beds are incredibly comfortable and everything including the bed linen is such good quality. It just seems everything has been thought about. The house is 2 mins from the sea..we sawRead more dolphins and shooting stars.Owners were so friendly and told us about some good local walks. I would highly recommend this place. Ive stayed in lots of holiday homes but there is something quite unique and special about this one. Hide
