Getaway from it all on a relaxing holiday in Birchington-on-Sea, a charming Victorian seaside town with shops, restaurants and a Blue Flag beach. Minnis Bay (1.5 miles) is a partly sandy family beach offering sailing, windsurfing and coastal walking and cycling routes. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy exploring the Viking Coastal Trail which runs from Reculver (7.5 miles) to Ramsgate (7 miles) and is perfect for a leisurely stroll or bike ride. For those interested in history and culture, head for Margate (4 miles), which has a wide selection of restaurants, cafes, and bars as well as the Turner Contemporary Gallery and the Shell Grotto which features a series of underground tunnels adorned with shell mosaics. Further afield, Broadstairs (7 miles) is well known for its Charles Dickens connections and sandy beaches and within 30 miles there are several castles, stately homes, and gardens, as well as Canterbury Cathedral to explore. There is a railway station with a frequent service to London.
