Walkers can take on the Offa’s Dyke, explore White Castle (7 miles), one of three historic landmarks that make up the Three Castles Walk, or head into the Wye Valley to join the Wye Valley Walk along the riverbanks. For golfers, The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Course is only 2 miles away. The Brecon Beacons National Park is close by, with access onto the Skirrid and Hatterrall Ridge at Pandy (13 miles), along with the Kymin (6.5 miles) on the other side of Monmouth, with each climb rewarding walkers with breathtaking views. Other activities and attractions include canoeing and kayaking on the River Wye and mountain biking in the Forest of Dean. The Big Pit at Blaenavon and The Brecon Railway, are both within 20 miles. Monmouth is just 4 miles away, a vibrant town with shops, cafes, restaurants, and theatre with a year-round events calendar.
The lodge is set within an established working farm, surrounded by farmland and picturesque countryside. Step inside, where you have access to a useful utility room offering space to store muddy boots and coats after a day exploring. The ground floor is both light and spacious and the lounge area offers comfortable seating for up to eight guests, a wood burner for chilly autumn evenings, a 50” TV with DVD, and a great selection of board games and interesting reads has also been thoughtfully provided by the owner. For dining, there is a generously sized table and chairs. The kitchen area has been well-equipped with everything you may need for preparing hearty meals and packed lunch for days out and about, and also features a table and chairs for breakfast and 28” TV. The ground floor also benefits from a generously sized bedroom, The Lord Nelson, with king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made into twin beds on request when booking, a TV and an en-suite shower. There is also a convenient utility room/cloakroom with WC on the ground floor. The first floor is accessible from the lounge area and offers guests the choice of three beautifully themed rooms. The first bedroom is The King Henry, with king-size bed, TV and en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. The second is The Charlies Rolls, with double bed, TV and en-suite shower room. The third is The Lady Llangattock, with twin beds, TV, and en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath.
