Situated in an idyllic location in picturesque Maidencombe, between Teignmouth and the English Riviera, this welcoming cottage with ocean views is perfect for couples and small families with the dogs in tow. The nearby and award-winning Thatched Tavern pub is less than a mile away and offers a lovely local to return to after days of adventure. Walkers are spoiled with countryside trails all around, but the headliner is no doubt the famous South West Coast Path that guests can join from the garden and walk to Teignmouth and Shaldon in one direction, or Torquay and Paignton in the other. Maidencombe Beach (1 mile) is your closest stretch of sand and welcomes dogs too, other nearby beaches include Ness Cove Beach and Shaldon beach (both within 2.5 miles). The village of Shaldon is worth a visit too, where you can amble through narrow streets, stopping in pubs and cafes along the way.

Access the property via a pathway of 50 steps winding down through the garden to the front door and enjoy the stunning, uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills and ocean from the lounge. The lounge boasts patio doors to the rear and armchairs perfectly placed to enjoy the ever-changing view. Adjacent is a second seating area with a comfy sofa, a Smart TV, and a dining area with seating for all guests next to a large window. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you’ll need to whip up feasts using the local ingredients you sourced earlier in the day. Completing the downstairs is a useful cloakroom with a WC. Moving upstairs you’ll find the master bedroom to your left with a super-king-size bed and beautiful countryside and coastal views. In here you’ll also find an archway that leads to a large dressing room with a bureau for those looking for workspace, a large wardrobe area, and a well-appointed en-suite bathroom. Down the hall is the family shower room with a walk-in shower and a WC. The second bedroom offers a spacious twin room boasting more stunning views from the window.

Outside there is a decked balcony area accessed via the patio doors and a further large decking area at the end of the garden, furnished for al fresco meals. Guests will also find a small garden house with additional seating for some shade, as well as BBQ facilities and a lawn area. Unwind out here at the start and end of each day, all the while taking in the breathtaking views.

Well what a brilliant week , beautiful house , idyllic spot with amazing views with sunrise coming straight through the full length patio doors , with access from the garden to the costal path and early morning walks, couldn't ask for more ,everything we needed was catered for. Lovely pub The Thatched Tavern within a mile with great food . The owRead moreners Keith and Rosie were welcoming and a lovely couple , with Sarah living in the adjoining annex who when able will bring you fresh eggs and milk , dont get put off by the number of steps as they were shallow steps curving around the terrace garden to the front door ( nothing like we imagined) they were very well lit up in the evening . We had such a good time we did consider squatting until we were evicted ,would love to visit again. Hide

A very well-equipped and comfortable house with stunning views out to sea, and set in a peaceful and relaxing location close to the SW Coast path. The owners provide a comprehensive list of suggested places to visit, maps and guidebooks. We enjoyed eg the local walks, trips to Cockington, Dartmoor, Dartmouth, Brixham and the lovely gardens at GreenRead moreway and Coleton Fishacre. If only we had had a longer holiday. Hide

I have spent time in some magical places in the world and this is right up there with the best. It was quite expensive but I do feel it was worth it. The setting is genuinely stunning and the beauty and calmness of nature and the specular setting have to be experienced to be believed. I have rarely felt such inner peace. The house is lovely and theRead more doors and windows let in so much natural light. You wont want to leave! Hide
