Located in the charming village of Great Shefford, this beautifully restored and extended five-bedroom detached cottage seamlessly blends historical charm with modern comforts. Great Shefford is a quaint village bursting with history, with evidence of settlers dating back to around 400 AD. The area is ideal for country walking with its location in the heart of the south Downs.  Close by the village of Lambourn (4.5 miles) is in the Valley of the Racehorse, with over 30 training establishments and a wealth of village events year-round, as well as the charming town of Hungerford (6 miles) with its antique shops. The market towns of Newbury, one of the country's premier horse riding venues, and Wantage are both 8 miles away.  Further afield, the likes of Oxford, Stonehenge, Reading, Newbury, and Ascot Racecourse are within a 40-mile radius.  Newbury and Hungerford are both on the main railway line into London Paddington with a journey time of around on hour.

Inside this delightful retreat, you will find three reception rooms. The snug, complete with a cosy wood burning stove, and the lounge both feature Smart TVs with Sky. The lounge also offers a PlayStation 3 for additional enjoyment. The well-proportioned dining room, which opens onto the garden, boasts a wood-burning stove and provides the perfect setting for meals with loved ones. The farmhouse kitchen complete with Aga and original wooden artefacts from the bakery, has a granite topped breakfast bar, gives access to the garden and is an ideal room to socialise.  There is a separate office adjoining the family lounge and a spacious, well-equipped utility room which is a practical space for pets to sleep and has its own exit door. The ground floor also features a cloakroom with power shower. Head upstairs to find five spacious bedrooms, one with an emperor-sized bed, two with king-size beds and two with doubles. The feature room has exposed beams, a sloping roof and an en-suite shower room and was the original flour store for the bakery. The large family bathroom includes an impressive free-standing bathtub, a well-proportioned power shower and WC.

Exceptionally well equipped and furnished large old house of character with a secure garden and a large covered barbeque outdoor lounge. My family party of six adults and four grandchildren were very happy with the ample space this house provided.
