The town of South Molton (10 miles) is renowned for its pannier market held twice a week in the town centre, and you can spend an afternoon here exploring the antique shops or just enjoying a classic Devon cream tea. For those who love the sea, Devon’s sandy coastline is a haven for surfing and sandcastle-building, and can be reached in just under 30 miles where Appledore, Instow and Westward Ho! await.

On entering this farmhouse which dates to the 17th century, you will find plenty of character features alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. Stepping in from the front door, you are greeted by a warm and welcoming lounge which offers the perfect spot to unwind after a day of Devonshire adventure. Fire up the wood burner in here, flick on the Smart TV and sink into the inviting sofas. When stomachs start to rumble, walk through to the wonderful farmhouse kitchen with its flagstone flooring and exposed beams overhead. Find all you need in here to whip up feasts for the group, who can gather at the nearby dining table to enjoy the chef’s work in the glow of a second wood burner. For some post-dinner relaxation, head to the peaceful sunroom to catch up on your holiday read or plan the next day of adventure. Nearby, you’ll also find a handy utility room where you can store your walking boots and let any pups into the garden.
