This charming four-bedroom family retreat enjoys a peaceful, rural setting right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. You’ll have stunning walking and cycling routes right on your doorstep, with trails to suit every kind of walker, from leisurely strolls to challenging hikes. Okehampton (6.5 miles), offers shops, takeaways and supermarkets, as well as specialist stores where walkers, cyclists and climbers can pick up gear and chat to knowledgeable locals. Explore the nearby Lydford Gorge (5.5 miles) with its spectacular 30-metre waterfall, or head to Roadford Lake (11 miles) for peaceful nature walks taking in grassland, woodland, old pastures and orchards. Other nearby attractions include the much-photographed Meldon Reservoir and Viaduct (5.5 miles) and Okehampton’s medieval castle (7 miles).

As you step inside this beautifully presented cottage, you’ll find yourself in the snug, a cosy haven equipped with a Smart TV, games console and comfortable seating – perfect for kids and teens to unwind after a day of exploring. Moving through the house, a welcoming lounge features plush seating and a wood burner housed within a stunning stone inglenook fireplace. Just off the lounge is the dining room, which boasts rows of painted ceiling beams that stand out against the white ceiling, along with a wood burner within an exposed brick fireplace. Head in the opposite direction, and you’ll find a large, equipped kitchen with modern appliances, an Aga to bring out your culinary prowess, and a kitchen island and bar stools for perching with coffee. A utility room just off to the side gives access to a washing machine and a shower room with WC. Two staircases lead upstairs – one from the lounge and one from the kitchen – where you’ll discover four spacious bedrooms. Two feature king-size beds, one has bunk beds and the fourth is a small double which is best suited for one person. The family bathroom, complete with a free-standing bath, shower and WC, rounds off the upper floor.

Outside, it’s a joy to relax in the large garden, which has comfortable seating for relaxing and dining alfresco. A separate field is also accessible – wonderful for energetic dogs to race around! Private off-road parking is available for four cars to park with ease.

This is a lovely cottage which is found within beautiful, peaceful countryside. It is very well equipped, the beds are comfortable and the accomodation easily caters for a couple up to a larger gathering. There were 6 adults and one child in our party and the accomodation was ideal.

The cottage worked very well for our party of four adults and three children with plenty of games for the children to use. Once we got the Aga heating working the kitchen was very cosy and spacious for us all to eat round the island unit. The lounge was great too, very comfortable & cosy with the log burner.
