Nearby, Berwick-upon-Tweed (2 miles) is rich in history, with medieval walls, Elizabethan ramparts, and charming shops, bars and restaurants to explore. Nature lovers can take a daily boat trip to see seals and dolphins who are regular visitors to this coastline, or visit the Farne Islands, home to puffins in the season, seals and amazing birdlife. Take the train from Berwick direct to Edinburgh (45 minutes) and to Newcastle’s bustling city centre, with a bus directly outside the property for Berwick centre and the train station for the east coast mainline services. Head to Holy Island (13.5 miles) and Bamburgh Castle (19 miles) while the local coast and countryside are perfect for scenic hikes or bike rides. Local eateries serve fresh seafood, giving you a true taste of the region.
