The 17th century Lulworth Castle, 3 miles away, has extensive parkland, woodland walks, a children’s playground and spacious grounds, while the National Trust’s Clouds Hill, Lawrence of Arabia’s rustic cottage, is 8.5 miles. For little ones, Monkey World and the Tank Museum are both within 6.5 miles.
Reach the property via a long, private drive, with livestock in the surrounding fields, and enter through the back door into a hallway where you can leave coats and boots. On your left is a study, with fabulous views through its curved windows – a perfect spot for catching up with emails or sipping a morning coffee. The main living space is open plan, with another circular space at one end, bathed in natural light and with an egg chair positioned in just the right spot for nestling up and enjoying the view. With exposed beams and a large brick fireplace, the lounge area has lovely character, and offers plenty of room for gathering together, with a large sofa and Smart TV. From the dining area, French doors lead to a sheltered patio on the side of the house. The kitchen is yet another beautifully designed space, centred around a large island/breakfast bar, and featuring a retro-style fridge/freezer. Completing the ground floor of the main house are two bedrooms, a double and one with bunk beds, and a family bathroom. Head upstairs to find, tucked under the eaves, a spacious and tranquil king-size bedroom with far-reaching views, plus an adjacent shower room, both with some areas of low, sloping ceiling. Additional accommodation can be found in two annexes, both reached by external steps. The ‘Posh Shed’ features contemporary decor and a sofa bed (for one adult on request), with a WC next door, while above the garage is a large family room (with a double and single bed) with an en-suite shower.
When you feel like indulging in an al fresco meal or serving up a sundowner, there are two patios with outdoor furniture where you can relax, one very sheltered and the other more open and with wonderful views. You can also use the field that slopes away from the house, that boasts swings and a bench seat – the perfect spot in which to relax and take in the incredible views. This property has ample off-road parking.
