Property code: OC-P30830

Set on a hillside in a peaceful location between the picturesque old fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay and the hamlet of Ravenscar, this delightful cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife, within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, a designated Dark Sky Reserve. It is the perfect getaway for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy the great outdoors with lovely walks from the doorstep on Brow Moor and the Cinder Track (the old railway line) between Whitby and Scarborough, the nearby coastal path, and the beach at Stoupe Beck, where you can spot fossils, Whitby Jet, and the thriving seal colony at Ravenscar. The historic port of Whitby, famous for its 199 steps, St Hilda’s Abbey, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and fish and chips, and Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort, are just a short drive away.

The traditional stone semi-detached cottage is accessed by a private lane from the road between Ravenscar and Stoupe Beck. The front door opens into a spacious lounge, full of light from windows offering beautiful sea and countryside views to Robin Hoods Bay with a comfortable sofa, Smart TV, dining table and chairs for two, and a log burner, ideal for those chilly nights. Leading off the lounge is the well-equipped kitchen, with windows overlooking the cottage garden, while a small bathroom with electric shower, WC and heated towel rail completes the ground floor. Upstairs, discover a cosy bedroom nestled in the eaves of the cottage with a king-size bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers overlooking the same lovely view and natural light filtering through a skylight.

Outside, there is a small, secluded garden with flowers and shrubs surrounding a patio, and a table and chairs for alfresco dining or drinks. A wooden garden bench with views across the bay makes an ideal vantage point for morning coffee. Parking is on the gravel driveway adjacent to the gate into the cottage and there is another parking space just a little way up the lane where you can turn around.
