Rest and recharge in the picture-postcard fishing village of Staithes, on the North Yorkshire coast. The pet-friendly property welcomes five guests, and suits both families and groups of friends looking to embrace a slower pace of life in this quaint Yorkshire village. The cottage is tucked away in a tiny side street, right in the centre of Staithes. Step outside your front door to explore the village’s narrow, cobbled streets and pretty harbour. Staithes has a fantastic array of independent eateries, along with boutiques and gift shops to potter around. Staithes is also a magnet for artists, and you can admire the local talent in the many galleries and studios dotted throughout the village. Head down to the cute beach to rummage in rock pools and hunt for fossils, or for a traditional day at the seaside, journey along the coast to the vibrant resort of Saltburn-by-the-Sea (9.5 miles). The Cleveland Way passes through Staithes, making it a fantastic base for walkers, and you can follow it inland to the North York Moors or along the clifftops to Runswick Bay. The traditional fisherman’s cottage is located down a narrow ginnel, just off Staithes’ main thoroughfare.

The accommodation is arranged across three floors and is bursting with period charm, thanks to beamed ceilings and an original cottage-style staircase. The ground floor comprises an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where you can all relax after a day of exploring the Yorkshire coast. The dining area has built-in seating and is a lovely spot to gather for an evening meal, and the contemporary kitchen area has everything needed for a self-catering holiday. After dinner, get cosy in the lounge area, watching a film on the Smart TV or reading a book in the glow of the roaring wood burner. Behind a door, you’ll find a steep, narrow staircase leading upstairs to the first of three inviting bedrooms. On this floor, a delightful double bedroom awaits with original wooden floorboards, a dressing table, and ample storage for all your holiday attire. A further staircase takes you to the second floor and the remaining bedrooms. Choose from a cosy single bedroom tucked away behind a sliding door, or a welcoming twin bedroom. Rounding off this coastal bolthole is a family bathroom.

Outside, listen to the sounds of the coast in the courtyard, as you sit at the table to sip your morning coffee and plan the day’s itinerary. Parking is available in a Staithes’ long-stay public car park, 400 metres from the cottage.
