This impressive holiday retreat enjoys a rural setting, on the edge of Bodmin Moor. The property welcomes four guests and makes a delightful couples’ retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The surrounding area is a paradise for walkers, with numerous tracks and trails to explore nearby, including the woodland and waterside routes at Golitha Falls (9.5 miles). You’ll be perfectly placed to explore both the north and south coast (both within approx. 20 miles), including the surfing resort of Bude and the traditional seaside town of Looe. The South West Coast Path passes through Looe, and the stretch leading to Polperro is particularly scenic or choose to walk the Tamara Coast to Coast Way along the border of Devon and Cornwall. Alternatively, spend the day pottering around idyllic fishing villages, such as Port Isaac (21 miles) on the north coast. Your nearest town is Launceston (7 miles), which has a good range of shops and eateries, along with a fascinating Norman castle perched high on a hill overlooking the town.
The beautiful holiday retreat is set in one of the wings of an elegant manor house. From the courtyard, step into the welcoming entrance hall, where you can store walking boots. From here, move through to the contemporary kitchen, where you’ll find everything needed to rustle up a hearty meal after a day of adventure. Adjacent to the kitchen is a utility area and a handy ground-floor WC. From the kitchen, double doors open into a magnificent lounge/diner, with slate flooring, antique furniture, artwork adorning the walls, and a wonderful collection of accessories and soft furnishings. Plump sofas are set around a cosy wood burner and there’s also a Smart TV for catching up on all your favourite programmes. To the rear of the room is a striking, mahogany dining table for sharing mealtimes as a group. Upstairs, you’ll find two bright and inviting bedrooms, both decorated in calming tones and enjoying relaxing, rural views. One of the bedrooms is a super-king-size with an en-suite bathroom, and the second bedroom can be made up as either a super-king-size or a twin. An elegant bathroom (reached via a step down) with a roll-top bath and separate shower completes the accommodation.
Outside, a path leads to the south-facing courtyard and a private seating area with a BBQ – the perfect spot for an al fresco supper on a summer’s evening. Guests also have access to a shared games room and fenced orchard where dogs are free to roam. Through the gate in the orchard you will have the freedom to explore the additional 20 acres leading down to the river Lynher. Ample private parking is available at the property.
