Offering light and relaxing accommodation for up to four guests, this spacious hideaway is perfect for walkers, cyclists, climbers, nature spotters, and water sports fans exploring the stunning northern fells of the Lake District. The cottage lies within a quaint spot in the centre of Pooley Bridge, a characterful village at the northern tip of Ullswater, with a great choice of pubs and eateries all less than a mile away. From here you can take a trip along the length of Ullswater by steamer to Glenridding (8 miles). The vibrant market town of Penrith (6 miles) is home to Brougham Castle, Rheged Arts Centre and Penrith Beacon. The north-eastern corner of the district is home to the Aira Force Waterfall, Lowther Castle and Gardens, Great Mell Fell and Dalemain Mansion, all within 10 miles. The Derwent Pencil Museum and the Puzzling Place are in nearby Keswick (16 miles).
Entering this cosy cottage, the small porch has space for hanging coats up before wandering through to the relaxing open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge has a Smart TV and DVD player, a cheerful wood burner and comfortable seating, with a handy dining table next to the fully equipped and beautifully organised kitchen. At the centre of the living area is a traditional open-tread wooden spiral staircase which leads up to the first-floor bedrooms: a delightful king-size room and the second bedroom has bunk beds that are full size single beds suitable for children and adults.
This floor also features a stylish shower room. A steep ladder-style staircase leads up to a cosy mezzanine snug with a desk and sofa. From the lounge, the bi fold doors open out onto a patio with steps leading up to a sweet seating area. The outdoor space features plenty of seating, a BBQ and a summer house featuring a large corner sofa.
The terrace looks out across a lovely lawn which leads directly down to the river, a popular spot where you can paddle board directly into Lake Ullswater. Bike storage is available, and there’s private parking for one car outside the cottage (on a first come, first served basis) with further parking in the village.
