This quirky character cottage is tucked away in a corner of the racing town of Middleham, just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and makes the perfect romantic bolthole for those who want to enjoy all that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. You’ll be less than 200 metres from Middleham Castle so you can easily explore this fascinating, roofless fortress which was the childhood home of Richard III. The market square with popular pubs, tearooms and shops is a similar distance away. Head 17 miles north-east to Brompton-on-Swale and try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding on Ellerton Lake, or visit Richmond (11.5 miles) for another castle, a Georgian theatre, nature reserves, gardens and shopping.
Enter via a step and through the front door, and the kitchen awaits - housed under the stairs yet remaining light and airy. The lounge can be reached from here where you can rest on the two-seater sofa or chair whilst you watch the Smart TV and warm yourselves by the wood burner-effect electric fire. This room has dual-aspect windows providing plenty of light and there’s an adorable dining table for two here as well. Move upstairs to the first floor where ceiling beams and window seats in the double bedroom give the cottage a lovely, cosy feel. The refurbished bathroom is also on this floor and comprises a shower and WC.
Step back outside the front door and enjoy an evening tipple at the table and chairs on the gravel area as you people watch.
