Tastefully decorated to a high standard, this property, with hand-crafted furniture made from reclaimed fishing boats, is perfect for a family wanting to explore the North Yorkshire coast. Conveniently located in the town centre and within easy walking distance to Whitby Abbey (under 500 metres) and the beach (0.5 miles), the apartment is also close to an excellent selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Whitby Harbour is steeped in history and visitors can see where British explorer Captain James Cook first worked as an apprentice before setting sail and discovering Australia. A statue of this great explorer stands proudly above the town, along with some huge whalebones, a sign of the town's maritime history. The harbour is buzzing with activity and you can enjoy early mornings watching the fishing boats come ashore before getting the first choice of their catch of the day.
Enter the private entrance and climb nine stairs to the landing and then a further 13 to the apartment. As you step inside, you’ll see the large kitchen which has everything you need to cater for your group. Settle down in the beautifully decorated lounge/diner with Asian memorabilia adorning the walls and a hand-crafted dining table and chairs behind the sofa. The Smart TV is here as well as the wood burner-effect gas fire. Sit in the bay window area and look through the binoculars at the harbour, marina and Swing Bridge. Move through the hallway to the utility cupboard where the balcony furniture can be stored. All three bedrooms are along the hall, including the master bedroom with its king-size sleigh bed and wooden wall carvings. This room has an en-suite with a shower cubicle and WC. The second bedroom also has a king-size sleigh bed, as well as a dressing table and chair, and the final bedroom has a queen-size bed. Finishing the interior is the bathroom which continues the Asian theme.
In terms of outdoor space, move through the French doors to the decked balcony with railings, a carved wooden bench, and a patio table and chairs. All of this overlooks the harbour.
