Treat yourselves to a special stay in this enticing, west Norfolk 280 year-old character cottage. Sleeping six guests, and also welcoming one canine companion, the three-bedroom cottage offers comfortable accommodation with a wealth of character. Set in historic Castle Acre, it makes a perfect base for visiting the priory, which dates back to the 11th century and is one of the largest and best-preserved monastic sites in England, and the walled castle, built in the 12th century by the Normans. Also visit the impressive 12th-century castle at Castle Rising, 14 miles away, and the Sandringham Estate, 14.5 miles from the cottage. Plan trips to the beach as well. Try Brancaster, 20 miles away, for its stretching sands, typical of north Norfolk as well as the lovely Wells Next the Sea and spectacular Holkham.
Open the door to this picture-postcard cottage and head into the welcoming farmhouse-style kitchen/dining-room, which is equipped with an electric range-style cooker, set into an inglenook fireplace, with microwave and American style fridge/freezer. There is also a dishwasher and washer/dryer and a CD player. The sitting room is cosy with a lovely wood burning stove. Enjoy the 50” smart TV, Blu-ray player or Play Station.
There are two bedrooms, a double with flat screen TV, and a twin, on the first floor of the cottage. (Note the first flight of stairs is a little steep and curves round a corner but there are very helpful ropes to hold onto and should not be a problem to anyone). There is also a family bathroom, with roll-top bath, shower above the bath as well as a handheld shower attachment, and WC, at this level. Straight up a second flight of stairs to the floor above in the eaves there is the third bedroom made up as a twin with lots of space.
Enjoy the pretty enclosed courtyard garden with BBQ and comfortable seating area as well as table and chairs for dining. There is also storage for bikes and private parking for one car with further parking available close by on the street.
