Treat yourself to a relaxing riverside break at this stunning old cottage in the village of Kings Meaburn, deep in rural Cumbria. This modernised property is a home away from home and ideal for a family or group of friends seeking a restful trip in an idyllic, quiet setting. Having the Lake District National Park right on your doorstep (9.5 miles) opens up plenty of opportunities for hikes, bike rides and scenic car trips through rugged mountains and breathtaking scenery. During your stay, you may choose to spend a few hours in the historic market town of Penrith (10 miles) and perhaps stop off at the medieval Brougham Castle (10 miles). The spectacular Rutter Force waterfall, located 6.5 miles from the accommodation, is also well worth a visit.
The downstairs of this spacious property features a really lovely open-plan kitchen/diner with a dining table and chairs plus a small sofa, and French doors leading out to the garden. Down the hallway, you can relax in a characterful lounge with a low ceiling and dark wood ceiling beams, comfortable sofas, a wood burner and a Smart TV where there is plenty of space for everyone. Before the lounge is the utility room. Head upstairs and you’ll find the three welcoming bedrooms – one king with an en-suite shower room and two twins, all well finished with neutral-coloured soft furnishings and wooden furniture. There is also a family bathroom with a bath and a shower over.
The patio outside is equipped with garden furniture where you can sit and enjoy afternoon tea in the fresh air. There is also a lovely, large sloping garden bordered with shrubs and trees that leads down to the water’s edge, which is perfect for free fly fishing. A Webb charcoal BBQ is also available for the warmer months.
