Furnished to a high standard and well-equipped with ample space for up to up to seven guests, this is a lovely property in a fantastic location, close to everything Southwold has to offer, including the beach, pier, and common. Grab your shopping bags and head out to the marketplace, just over 150 metres from the front door to the excellent range of small shops, including a greengrocer, a family butcher, and a delicatessen. Wander to the Promenade (just over 300 metres) then keep walking to the harbour (1 mile away) where you can catch a ferry to Walberswick, a pretty village with unspoilt sand dunes on the gorgeous beach, and lots of places to enjoy a snack or meal out. Visit Southwold’s pier (0.5 miles from the property) with its arcade and 80’s retro games or pop to the museum to see the spectacular Alfred Corry Lifeboat (less than 500 metres from the house). Spend the day on Southwold’s second beach, the expansive sand and shingle of the Denes beach (0.5 miles), where it’s slightly more rugged and secluded than the beach in town and the perfect place to fly a kite or have a go at surfing, windsurfing or paddle boarding.

The pretty red brick cottage has a large, comfy sitting room with a huge TV and plenty of space for everyone to chill out, a galley kitchen with everything needed for cooking up delicious delights, and a dining room to enjoy them in. There’s also a bathroom with a bath and shower on the ground floor. Two of the lovely, bright bedrooms are on the first floor, a king and a single, as well as a handy shower room with another WC. There are two further bedrooms on the second floor, a double and one with bunkbeds, which is perfect for kids.

Through the stable door in the kitchen is a pretty, fenced courtyard garden at the rear of the house, that’s safe for dogs and children alike. With a charcoal BBQ and garden furniture for everyone it’s perfect for spending warm evenings dining al fresco.

We loved the location of Ivy Cottage as it was close to the Common, shops, pubs and the beach. The lounge was large enough for 5 adults and 2 children but unfortunately, the kitchen was not! However, it had everything we needed in terms of equipment. The outside dining space was used every day (the weather allowed for this!) and the shed was realRead morely useful as we were able to store all of our beach things in it. The downstairs bathroom was a good size and there was plenty of hot water. The agents were told of the blocked drain in the shower upstairs. We would certainly use Ivy Cottage again whilst the grandchildren are still young enough to fit the bunk beds! We all had a wonderful family holiday and Southwold didn't disappoint. Of course, the weather helped, but even if the weather is bad, there is so much to do that you could never get bored. Hide

Excellent location, very close to beach and town. Comfortable beds and sofa and nice outside space with large table and chairs. For dog owners; note its not enclosed between back door and outside enclosed area and no grass, but can leave top of stable door open rather than whole door for unreliable dogs or small children. . 2 minute walk to grassyRead more area. Living fairly locally we visit Southwold regularly so to take the opportunity to stay in our favourite town for a week at Christmas was very special - it didnt disappoint . Ivy cottage is in a great location, close to the shops, pubs and beach and free parking across the road was easy ( May have to park anywhere you can if arriving earlier in the dRead moreay but you can easily get a space after dark once day trippers go home) . Ivy cottage fitted our budget perfectly for the time of year. A small Christmas tree and festive decorations were decorating the cottage, and the living room with its large L-shaped sofa, though small, was very comfortable and cosy. Cooking Christmas dinner in the small kitchen was a challenge as very little worktop space and we struggled to find room for all our food! Luckily we had our electric camping fridge with us and we made use of the shed outside. However kitchen equipment was good quality (sharp knives, lovely wine glasses and champagne flutes, plenty of crockery and cutlery, great saucepan and fry pan set). Beds very comfortable and plenty hot water for showers. If you need to get out then the Nelson is the next perfect living room. Hide

Ivy Cottage is in a perfect location and fabulous for a winter break. The cottage was warm and welcoming when we arrived on a very dark, cold evening. The lamps and heating were on with an added bonus of a Christmas Tree!! The cottage appears small from the outside however had a separate dining and living area as well as two full bathrooms. The bunRead morekbeds in the top bedroom are fine for children however using the bottom bunk for an adult was manageable but not ideal. A generous welcome pack is something I use as an indicator of the level of consideration the owner has and this one did not disappoint (as with the Molten Brown products). I've had the good fortune to stay in many Southwold cottages over the years and I would put this in the top five, especially for a winter break. Hide

One of my favourite holiday cottages. A lovely cosy, warm cottage, situated on a quiet road. Plenty of room for my family of 5 adults and one dog ! A treat to return to after exploring Southwold and the surrounding areas. Beautifully decorated and furnished. Very comfy beds, great touches such as quality handsoaps and moisturisers, and a smallRead more welcome hamper, containing quality treats. A secure outside area for our Border Terrier. The cottage was in an excellent location, with easy walking distance to the beaches, town, pier and cliff top walks. I would definitely recommend and a cottage I would return to, whenever we explore Southwold again. Hide
