This three-bedroom cottage, nestled within North Yorkshire’s countryside, features high-level furnishings and level access throughout the ground floor and is a sanctuary for country and coastal explorers. Once one of the busiest fishing ports on the north-east coast, the seaside fishing village of Staithes, 2 miles away, is made up of intricate cobbled alleys and ginnels, and is even home to the narrowest alley in the world at just eighteen inches wide. Explore the 17th-century house featuring the Captain Cook Memorial Museum 12 miles away, the former home to famous Royal Navy captain and explorer Captain James Cook. Meander along part of The Cleveland Way National Trail (11.5 miles), 190-mile trail from Helmsley to Filey, and enjoy the rugged but beautiful North Yorkshire coastline. Discover sea creatures aplenty 1.5 miles away by rock pooling at the harbour on the small sandy beach.

An open-plan ground floor welcomes you into relaxed, easy living with everything at your fingertips with access all on one level. A modern kitchen occupies the front of the property, kitted out with everything to cater, featuring beautiful granite worktops throughout and a handy small island for socialising or food preparation. Partitioned off from the kitchen by two large sofas, the living space surrounds a gorgeous wood burner and striking exposed wooden beams stretch the whole length of the ceiling. The dining table sits inside of a wonderful extension with floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and a glass skylight for stargazing or summer evening dining. Aside the living area, you’re met with a king-size bedroom with built-in wardrobes, flooded with natural light from the large patio door out to the garden. This bedroom also benefits from a Freeview TV with a DVD player and an en-suite wet room with a level access shower with a built-in seat and WC. Upstairs, you’ll find a super king-size bedroom benefiting from its own Freeview TV with DVD player and en-suite with shower over the bath and WC. A final twin bedroom under the eaves also benefits from an en-suite with shower cubicle and WC and an additional Freeview TV with DVD player.

Accessed through the patio door in the kitchen/dining area or third bedroom, the enclosed patio garden is the perfect suntrap for al fresco dining, with a beautiful backdrop of matured planted foliage surrounding the patio. The property also benefits from a shared games room which includes a 3/4 size snooker table, table tennis and table football. You can also book the shepherd’s hut – subject to availability. Set in a south-facing meadow this beautiful timber-framed hut features a king-size bed, seating and TV, and offers glorious views over the woods and valley and towards the sea.

"Willow Cottage" was a real home from home, with the owner there to greet us and offer a welcome pack, always an appreciated special gesture! We discovered it was a great base from which we could enjoy our week in North Yorkshire. The cottage was beautifully warm, (there in March) and with 3 bedrooms, all en-suite, it was ideal for 2 to 6 visitorRead mores. Our 2 retriever dogs also found it comfortable and settled in easily. There was plenty of hot water, and the downstairs wet-room shower was splendid. It was great to have that downstairs bedroom, and we can definitely recommend the comfortable bed. There were just 2 of us staying, but the other bedrooms, upstairs, looked to have that lovely feeling of being in a traditional cottage. We can't vouch for the beds or bathrooms as they were not used. The location was excellent, being very near to the atmospheric coastal village, Staithes, and the lovely beaches of Skinningrove and Runswick Bay, both excellent for the dogs at low tide times. It was also within easy distance of Whitby and its famous Abbey, and not too far from Rievaulx Abbey, should you like that kind of thing. Coast and country were there in abundance to enjoy. We would highly recommend "Willow Cottage" and all it has to offer. Hide
