At a glance

  • Delightful, stone cottage, nestled at the heart of old Robin Hood’s Bay
  • Exceptional character, as well as modern-day comfort
  • Ideally situated right near to the beach which is a fossil-hunter’s delight

Property code: OC-R579

A traditional cottage within the charming, old fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay, this welcoming retreat makes a great base for exploring the coastal area of the North York Moors National Park. Sleeping five guests, the two-bedroom property still reveals its original character, while also offering good space and comfort for a family break. Stroll less than 100 metres from here down to the sandy beach to look for fossils, explore rock pools and admire the sweeping views. Have a day out to Whitby, 5.5 miles away, with its seaside attractions, famous abbey and connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Pack a picnic and head off on walks across the moors or along the coast, following a section of the Cleveland Way perhaps.

Find a warm welcome within this Yorkshire cottage as soon as you cross the threshold. From the hallway, make your way into the lounge/kitchen diner, where the kitchen is a step up from the rest of the room. Stoke up the fire in the wood burner in the stone fireplace on chilly days to create a cosy ambience and find a film to enjoy on the TV. The open-plan nature of the living space means that the chef of the group never needs to feel left out. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and additional fridge/freezer housed in a useful outbuilding, together with a pet cage and a WC. Up on the first floor you’ll find a charming double bedroom and the good-sized family bathroom. A narrow, winding staircase, then leads up to the second floor, where a cosy second bedroom with three single beds and sloping ceilings is situated.

Outside there is a shared garden area with tables and chairs where you can enjoy a drink in the fresh air and catch a glimpse of the sea between the rooftops of the other characterful houses.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double and 1 with 3 singles (sloping ceilings in the 2nd bedroom)
  • 1 family bathroom, with a bath, separate power shower and WC
  • Electric cooker, with double oven and grill, microwave and fridge with ice box
  • Washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer in separate outhouse
  • Welcome pack
  • Wood burner
  • TV, DVD and iPod dock
  • Mobile signal is variable
  • 1 dog welcome on the ground floor only
  • Pet cage available (75cms x 52cms) in outhouse
  • Shared garden, with table and chairs.
  • 1 permit (for cars only, not vans and camper vans) provided for the Fisherhead Car Park, 100 metres downhill from the cottage - spaces are subject to availability
  • Shop and pub 350 metres, beach 100 metres
  • Please note, there is a narrow, winding staircase, with no door or stairgate, between the first and second floors, making the second-floor accommodation unsuitable for children under 3
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 1 dog allowed. Additional charges may apply

Such a cosy cottage, perfect for a winter stay with a log burner and really well equipped kitchen. It was super clean and had lovely decor with lots of little touches, even the fire was ready to be lit! A permit for the carpark was also a perk.

The location of the cottage was excellent, only a short walk away from the beach and pubs/restaurants. The furniture wasnt very comfortable and not really suited for 5 people as there is only a very small settee and two small arm chairs two sit on in the evening. For the price of the cottage I did not expect to have to remove the rubbish/recycliRead moreng ourselves and take it to a communal bin in the middle of the village. Hide

The cottage was lovely and everything was fine . However we are no longer in covid times and the late entry and early departure which includes stripping all the beds etc and taking the rubbish to the bins a walk away is no longer acceptable. It makes for a stressful end to the holiday. I hope you will review both aspects as I feel its unfair to guRead moreests. We did enjoy our stay. Hide

Cannot fault the general information accuracy presented on the web site .Spotlessly clean, everything you could think of was available in the cottage. Highly delighted with the few days we spent at Storm cottage, RHB. Would strongly recommend.

The cottage is lovely and the location is excellent. The only issue we had is that the sofa in the sitting room is not very comfortable.
