For a rural getaway with friends or family in the Welsh hills, stay at this hillside property in Snowdonia, dating back to the early 1900s. You’ll have gorgeous walking trails from your front door, as well as many climbing and mountain biking opportunities in the area. The pretty town of Dolgellau is 1 mile away, while sandy beaches await you at Fairbourne (8.5 miles) and Barmouth (11.5 miles).
You access the property via a private gated driveway. The downstairs of this cosy house has a roomy kitchen-diner that’s equipped with everything you need for creating delicious meals, as well as an oak dining table for sharing them. There’s a two-seater sofa plus a handy wall map of the area to help you plan tomorrow’s adventures. The comfy sitting room has a gorgeous stone and oak fireplace housing a wood burner for keeping cosy on those chilly Welsh evenings, along with a TV and DVD and video players. Dual-aspect windows offer beautiful views of Cadair Idris and the countryside surrounding the property. A handy utility room contains the washer/dryer and freezer. Take the staircase from the kitchen-diner up to the first floor, where you’ll find two double bedrooms and a single room with bunk beds. The master bedroom has a wonderful view and an en-suite bathroom, and all three bedrooms have original oak flooring for an authentic feel.
At the front of the property, there’s a raised slate patio furnished with a picnic table, and there’s a BBQ for if you wish to organise an al fresco feast. Here you can take full advantage of the wonderful view of Cadair Idris.
